Cup donor & other stakeholders with medals and trophies

Quarters 12 and 15 United Football Club of Mile 16, Buea, Fako Division of the South West Region, have defeated Casino Football Club to claim the trophy of the 2025 edition of Livescore Inter-quarter Football tournament.

The 12/15 United boys emerged victorious after post-match penalties, after a goalless match during the regular playtime.

12/15 United Football Club secured victory after scoring three of their five penalties against Casino Football Club’s one goal after four penalty kicks.

The competition started on July 31, 2025 with 20 teams drawn from Buea and Tiko Subdivision. The 20 teams thrilled the population of Mile 16 Bolifamba for a period of one month with good football.

The competition, in its fourth edition, is organised by Engineer Takwi Solomon, with the goal of keeping young people busy during the holidays.

The organiser explained that the scourge of drug abuse and other forms of criminality were rife during such a period, and thus such a competition would keep young people engaged and thinking about something positive not drugs.

In four weeks droves of young people streamed into the pitch to watch thrilling football games. These scenes, according to the organiser and host, made him satisfied with the way the competition was welcomed.

“I am very much satisfied with the turnout today, especially with the population of Mile 16 Bolifamba who have come out in their numbers to make sure the competition is a successful one,” Engineer Takwi exclaimed after the final match.

In this light, he encouraged the residents of Mile 16 Bolifamba to continue in the spirit of peace, love and social cohesion that was demonstrated throughout the competition.

Engineer Takwi expressed satisfaction at the professionalism of the teams and all stakeholders involved in the competition. He promised the people of Mile 16 Bolifamba a better competition in 2026.

On his part, Bishing Ando, captain of the winning team, 12/15 United Football Club, said he was overwhelmed with joy and the pride after the victory.

“This is because it was not an easy ride but a roller coaster ride all through the good stages before going to the knockouts, and then God has blessed us with this trophy today,” Bishing said.

He promised that their team will not go back to sleep, but continue preparing themselves ahead of the 2026 edition of the competition. He saluted the cup donor for such a laudable initiative that gave them an opportunity to enjoy good football.

Engineer Takwi, friends support IDPs with didactics

The finals of the competition provided Engineer Takwi and his friends an opportunity to share didactics including books, pens, pencils, schoolbags and other school materials to internally displaced schoolchildren and other destitute persons in Mile 16 Bolifamba.

He explained that the goal of the donation was to encourage schoolchildren and their parents of the necessity for them to go to school ahead of the 2025/2026 school year. He added that their choice of education was because it is the best tool to empower young people and turn poor people into successful persons in the future.

The donation of didactics and the football tournament are tools used by the cup donor to strengthen his fight against drug abuse and other deviant behaviours common amongst young people in the area.
