Mbangasina municipality: Authorities restore calm after clashes over dismissal of dev't association VP.

Security officers alongside authorities on site to restore order

Security and administrative authorities have restored calm in the localities of Nyamanga II and Biatombo in Mbangasina Subdivision, Mbam and Kim Division of the Centre Region.

This was after tension erupted between the two localities following the dismissal of a certain Jean Ndzana Elembe from the post of Vice President of a grouping of sons and daughters of Nyamanga II.

The immediate cause of his dismissal is said to have been provoked by Elembe’s alleged mishandling of a machine used in combing sand from a local river.

He is said to be been dismissed by the association’s president whose name The Guardian Post got as Felix Eboa.

Eboa is said to have accused his Vice of engaging in acts that do not represent the association.

To fight against what he is said to have termed injustice, Elembe is said to have mobilised a group of youths who went on the rampage.

The group is said to have in the process set fire on some social services that benefit the two villages.

To put the situation under the control a deputy mayor of the Mbangasina Council is said to have in the company of a team of security forces stormed the two localities on August 28.

During the field visit, some youths who are said to have gone overboard in their reaction, destroying things were arrested.

Meantime, the security officers and the deputy mayor are said to have appealed for calm before leaving the area.

Before the August 28 visit, the deputy mayor is said to have first visited the area on the 19th of the same month to calm nerves.

But the situation is said to have rather degenerated with barricades raised on the road leading to the River Mbam. Elembe is said to have ordered youths loyal to him then to dismantle the barricades.

Yet on Wednesday August 27, new barricades are said to have been raised and properties destroyed including culverts constructed by the Council.

The destruction is said to have caused police officers to raid the area, arresting those responsible for the destruction.
