PCC warns public about impersonation of Moderator.

PCC Moderator, Rt Rev Miki Hans Abia, with other clergy

The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC, has called on the general public to be cautious of a group or unscrupulous individuals impersonating the Moderator of the PCC, the Rt Rev Miki Hans Abia.

The warning is contained in a statement issued by PCC on Monday January 27, to disclaim social media messages the persons involved have been using to impersonate the Moderator. The PCC, in the statement, warned the public to avoid getting scam by such persons.

In the statement, the PCC disclosed that the impersonation is taking place on online platforms and social media outlets like WhatsApp and SMS. It said the individuals scam people by soliciting money.

“It has come to our attention that a fraudulent individual or group is impersonating the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, the Rt. Rev. Miki Hans Abia, on online platforms and social media outlets like WhatsApp and SMS to scam people by soliciting money,” the statement read.

It stated categorically that the Moderator has never requested financial assistance or personal contributions through social media accounts or unofficial channels.

“We wish to clarify that the Rt. Rev. Miki Hans Abia does not request financial assistance or personal contributions through private messages, social media accounts, or other unofficial channels. Any such communication claiming to be from him is a scam and should be disregarded,” the disclaimer added.

The publication further added that: “The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon maintains strict policies on financial transparency, and all legitimate church-related fundraising activities or initiatives are announced through the church's official and verified communication channels”.

It also called on all members of the church and the general public to be vigilant and cautious and to not engage with or provide money to any individual making such unauthorised claims.

“Let us remain steadfast in our faith and work together to safeguard the church's integrity against such fraudulent acts,” the stated added.
