Over 94 billion FCFA has been allocated to the North West Region, as investment budget for 2025. The figure was unveiled during a ceremony held Wednesday in the city of Bamenda.

According to officials, this year’s budget has prioritised the region’s reconstruction and recovery from the ongoing crisis.

It was gathered that priority has been given to projects in the road, energy as well as the health sectors while also driving industrialisation and digital economic growth.

Major areas of focus for the 2025 budget will be the transfer of resources to local councils, the improvement of import substitution in the agro-pastoral and fisheries sectors. The budget will also prioritise security maintenance in the North West Region.

At the launching ceremony held Wednesday in Bamenda, North West Governor, Adolphe Lele L’afrique, emphasised the importance of professionalism and transparency in the implementation of the budget.

He said: “This year’s budget has been baptized as “The Budget of Socio-Economic Impulsion”. As such, the reconstruction of the region remains top on the agenda.

“We also need to work hard to win the prize promised by the minister, who has promised to compensate the region that will come first in the execution of the budget,” he said.

Meanwhile, the North West Regional Delegate of the Economy Planning and Regional Development, Buinda Godlove, used the launching ceremony to outline plans of revamping road construction and the energy sectors with this year’s budget.

“The priority sector first has to deal with infrastructural development. We are talking about the roads, water and energy, electrification, education, and the housing sectors,” he explained.

The 2025 budget in the North West Region has seen a significant increase of 16.4% and it is expected to compliment ongoing construction projects in the region, like the construction of the regional assembly, customs office and gas plant, ultimately contributing to the development of the region
