Bryan Mbeumo

Bryan Mbeumo’s debut for Manchester United has been delayed again due to fitness issues although he is getting up to speed with his fitness.

The Cameroon international striker Bryan Mbeumo will not be making his first appearance for the English Premier League club today.

Mbeumo and his teammates face Bournemouth in their second outing of the Premier League Summer Series in New Jersey, United States of America, USA.

The former Brentford striker is among 32 players called up by coach Ruben Amorin for the second edition of the Premier League Summer Series.

Mbeumo, who sealed his move from Brentford last Monday has been training with his new colleagues. He was on the verge of making his debut for the club on Sunday but was not included on the squad list.

According to reports, Manchester United Coach, Ruben Amorin, said that Mbeumo will also sit out today’s game against Bournemouth in Chicago, USA.

“He is not going to play the next one [the game against Bournemouth]. We hope to have Bryan in the last game [vs Everton]. He is training now, so we will see,” Amorin is quoted to have told MUTV.

Mbeumo reported back to pre-season duty on July 14 but did not do any pitch work during the week that followed.

Reports say the 25-year-old solely stuck to gym work, behind his teammates, many of whom returned to Carrington on July 7, in terms of fitness.

Manchester United is featuring in the competition for the first time. They begin their journey with a 2-1 win over West Ham United.

After missing out on games against West Ham United and now Bournemouth, Mbeumo will be looking to make his first appearance for the club against Everton on August 3 in the tournament. The game will end Manchester United’s visit.

It is important to mention that Mbeumo signed a five-year deal with Manchester United, with an option of another 12 months.

Mbeumo’s move to Manchester United makes him the most expensive African player and third Cameroonian international to join Manchester United, after Andre Onana and Eric Djemba-Djemba.

Mbeumo is considered a valuable addition to the Manchester United squad. The club finished last season in 15th position last season and missed all chances of playing European football.

Mbeumo scored a career-high 20 goals and seven assists in the premier League last season. Mbeumo was also top scorer of Brentford last season and the fourth on the chart in the league.

Mbeumo is considered an essential part of Manchester United as they hope to impress in the 2025/2026 season. They open their league season against Arsenal at Old Trafford on 17 August.

It is worth mentioning that Mbeumo is a product of ES Troyes Academy. He began his professional senior career in 2018. He was transferred to Brentford in 2019 and was a member of the squad which gained promotion to the Premier League in 2021.
