Bamenda: NtaCCUL GM celebrates mother @ 75.

Mami Threphina on the dance floor during birthday celebration

The adage that as you make your bed, so shall you lie on it, was evidently manifested, Sunday January 5, 2025, in the life of Mami Threphina Ngum, the biological mother of the emblematic and results-oriented General Manager, GM of Ntarinkon Cooperative Credit Union Ltd, NtaCCUL, Divine Ade Muma.

It was a day that would linger for a long time to come in the minds of Mami Threphina and the cream of personalities who made it to the get-together.

Looking radiant in her red flowery gown, with a perfect shoe to match, Mami Threphina looked far younger than her 75 years of age.

Occasionally, she would get up from her specially decorated golden chair and take to the dance floor to the admiration of attendees at the get-together.

Be it at the Presbyterian Church, PC Up Station, where a Thanksgiving Service was held in her honour or at the reception event at a cozy hotel in the same city, the 75th birthday anniversary of Mami Threphina Ngum attracted prominent personalities across Bamenda and beyond, especially friends of her son, Divine Ade Muma, who joined him to celebrate his mother.

It was not in doubt that Mami Threphina was over-joyed as she was swarmed over with several grandchildren as well as several family members and her own family lineage that literally turned the event to a ‘reunion’ of a sort.

The event literally kicked off when the celebrant sauntered into the reception ground at the Bamenda Up Station neighborhood and was welcomed by an excited crowd of attendees, including friends who came from the length and breadth of Bamenda.

Earlier at the Thanksgiving Church Service Sunday morning, the Parish Pastor of PC Up Station, Rev Ntsebe Eric, in his sermon drew afflatus from Jeremiah 31:10-14.

The celebrated preacher told worshippers at the church service that: "Weeping may come through the night, but joy will come in the morning".

He described Mami Threphina Ngum's dancing and activeness in church as a new dawn in her life, given all the hurdles she had overcome in her life.

Pastor Ntsebe Eric congratulated the children of Mami Threphina Ngum for celebrating her while she is still alive and kicking.

"Celebrate your parents when they are alive, so they can feel the celebration and be proud of their children," the Man of God said.

Meanwhile, one of Mami Threphina sons, Ade Divine Muma, while addressing the congregation, hailed his mother for her unwavering support to him and siblings.

The NtaCCUL General Manager also professed love to his mother whom he affectionately called Mami Threphina before explaining how she had struggled to make ends meet, selling food at the Ntarinkon Market to pay his school fees and that of his siblings.

He furthered that his mother had faced health challenges throughout 2024 but recently made a remarkable recovery in 2025.

The celebration was marked by colourful displays and feasting at a hotel in Up Station Bamenda.

Mami Threphina Ngum, it should be said, is a proud mother of four children, including three boys: Eric, Julius, Ade Divine and a girl, Pricilla.
