Elite Two: Bafmeng United president salutes club’s performance.

The NW club currently tops Group B of the league table

The president of North West Region Elite Two club, Bafmeng United, Prof Njong Mom Aloysius has expressed satisfaction with the results recorded so far by the club since the start of the 2024/2025 season.

Prof Njong Mom has saluted the commitment of the players and members of the technical staff for their determination to shine the image of the club.

He was speaking at the University of Bamenda football stadium last weekend.

This was shortly after Bafmeng United hosted Aigle of Menoua in a match day four encounter in the Elite Two championship. The match ended goalless.

Despite the virgin tie, the Bafmeng maintained the top position on the tentative classification in Group B of championship.

The club from Menchum Division which remains unbeaten since the start of the league, tops the table with 8 points.

In four matches, the boys of coach Anunewa Frankline have registered two wins and two draws.

The club sits one point ahead of sister team, ISOHSA of Limbe which is ranked second on the league with 7 points.

Management impressed by players’ performance

Prof Njong Mom who addressed the players after the clash against Aigle Meoua said he was happy with the team’s performance in the game though they didn’t win.

According to him, he is confident that the club will be able to achieve its goal of qualifying for the topflight championship at the end of the season if the players maintain the current form and fighting spirit.

“The first match that I watched was that against Djiko FC in Bandjoun and I was very impressed. The second was the one you guys played against Aigle today. I came here telling myself that I need to be convinced if what you people did in Bandjoun was an error or it is what Bafmeng United is actually made of,” the club official said.

Prof Njon went on to emphasize: “I can assure you that if you continue playing the way you are playing at the moment, I think by the close of the championship, we will be somewhere,”.

Restates management’s continuous support

The club president also informed the players of the commitment of management to supporting them as they carry on in its bid to qualify for Elite One.

“We will achieve our goals because we at the level of management are doing everything possible to accompany you the players. And I promise we will continue doing so. When I will leave from here, I will tell the founders of this club that you people are good,” the president said.

“I promise you guys that despite the result that we registered today, we at the level of management will do everything possible,” the professor added while also promising the players of financial motivation.

Players challenged to dream big

President Njong also urged the players to aside the quest for an Elite One qualification at the end of the season, strive for individual excellence.

He challenged them to embrace hard work, humility and discipline, insisting that those will lay the foundation for the players to be able record career successes beyond the circle of Bafmeng United.

“If you continue playing this way, you will succeed. The objective is not to only help Bafmeng United to qualify for the Elite One but equally sell your skills. You should have that objective. Do not be a short-term player. When you are a short-term player, your lone intensions while playing is to win a match and get a little bit of money. You cannot grow that way,” the executive said.

“You should have some long-term objectives. You can only succeed when you are discipline. When you are discipline, humble, calm and focused, you will make it,” he emphasised.

The club’s next outing in the championship will be on Saturday January 11. They will face AS FAP of Yaounde at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo as from 3:30pm.
