The Delegate General for National Security, Martin Mbarga Nguele, has released armed-to-the-teeth combat-ready elite officers of the police force to ensure the maximum security of Yaounde city dwellers during the festive period.

The officers of the Special Intervention Rapid Unit popularly known by its French acronym ESIR, have been deployed to combed through all the nooks and crannies of Yaounde.
The sole mission is to thwart acts of men of the underworld and track those who attempt harassing citizens.
As explained by the Interim Centre Regional Delegate for National Security, Police Commissioner Ossomo Josue, a total of 46 patrol teams have been spread across the streets of Yaounde.
The patrol teams, he detailed, are in permanent contact with the all the central police stations.
The teams are immediately deployed following distress calls from city dwellers.

Incidents of harassments, thefts or other acts, he stated, can be reported through the toll-free number 117.
He disclosed that a special team has been put in place at the Command and Information Centre of ESIR at Ngoa-ekele neighborhood.
The team, he added, relays distress calls from the population to all special units on ground for immediate intervention.
The Coordinator of the ESIR Command and Information Centre, Second Grade Police Inspector Biyidi Jean Baptiste, says at least 500 calls are daily at the unit.
Of this number, he says only about 150 are serious security concerns warranting intervention.
Biyidi Jean Baptiste has so far been touring the capital city to coordinate actions of the team under his control.
