Samsung electronics unveils new AI smart phones, Galaxy Z Fold, Flip 7.

Samsung electronics has unveiled its new generation of smart phones with dimensions of Artificial Intelligence, AI, incorporated. The functionalities of marks, Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Flip 7, through which Samsung is redefining innovation in foldable smartphones.



They were presented to the Cameroonian public on Wednesday, July 9, at the latest unpacked event in Douala.

Presenting the devices, Samsung’s Regional Manager for Central Africa, Ibrahim Mbombo, took time to explicitly portray the new features the company has introduced in the new version, for the Galaxy Z fold. 

He said it has been made as the thinnest and lightest of the brand. Yet, the Galaxy Z and Fold7, features multimodal AI capabilities, a redesigned user interface and the series’ first 200-megapixel camera, with ultra-level refinement across design and technology.

The device sets a new standard for foldable smartphones with ability to personalise user habits that can be recognised by artificial intelligence.

“The phone adopts our habits and recommends what time we can do what, what route to take to avoid traffic and even knows what time we get up from sleep” Ibrahim Mbombo said 

 

Unmatched features unpacked 

The Galaxy Z Fold7 is said to be the thinnest and lightest in the series to date, measuring 4.2 millimeters when unfolded, 8.9 millimeters when folded and weighing 215 grams. 

Considering the inclusion of a cover display and a complex folding mechanism, these are breakthrough figures. The hardware innovation is immediately noticeable, significantly slimmer and more lightweight than its predecessors. 

The device feels closer to a bar-type smartphone in hand and is thinner than the average passport or card wallet, making it exceptionally comfortable to carry.

Camera clarity at the highest resolution

The Galaxy Z Fold7 is the first in the Galaxy Z Fold series to feature a 200-megapixel camera — capturing four times the detail compared to its previous 50-megapixel counterpart. 

Paired with the AI-powered ProVisual Engine, the camera delivers sharper images and more vivid color. 

Nightography ensures crisp, clear shots even in low light, while the front main camera now offers a wider 100-degree field of view maximizing the advantages of the large display. From group selfies to sweeping travel scenes, the device helps frame every moment with ease.

 

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 goes bigger

The flappable model of the Fold now has an enlarged 4.1-inch top screen and the clamshell folds down to just over half an inch. 

The inner display grows to 6.9 inches from the Flip 6’s 6.7 inches. It gets a slightly bigger 4,300mAh battery and maintains a 50-megapixel main camera and 10-megapixel front camera. 

A new, cheaper version of the phone, called the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE was also announced today. The price for the phones has not yet been announced, but Samsung's partners in Cameroon such as MTN, Orange and Glothelho have set up preferential treatments for its customers. 

It was said during the event that people will be able to pay in installments and have like a year-long warranty period upon purchase 

Rick Osterloh, Google’s senior vice president of devices and services, appeared in a pre-recorded video at the event to announce that the AI Mode of its search engine will be used in Samsung’s circle to search function, allowing users to make quick queries by tapping or circling things on their screen.
