PM Dion Ngute gets enthusiastic welcome in Bamenda.

A cross section of administrative and traditional authorities alongside cultural groups, gave the PM, who is sojourning in the Region, an exceptional welcome at Matazem.

The highpoint of visit is the 7th session of the Steering Committee of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions, PPRD-NW/SW, that will take place today.

Officials of the organising team revealed that among those to attend the session are; members of government, local administrative authorities, civil society leaders, religious and traditional leaders.

The Guardian Post also gathered that during today’s session, there will be a presentation of the PPRD activity report as of June 30, 2025; presentation of projects included in the 2025 Annual Work Plan and a lecture on the evolution of the socio-economic situation in the North West and South West Regions.

Among the projects included in the programme are; the 365km Bamenda Ring Road, with focus on the Kumbo-Nkambe stretch, which is currently under construction.

Inspection of PPRD projects 

As part of the three-day working visit in the North West Region, the Prime Minister is programmed to inspect some projects, realised under the PPRD programme.

Some of the projects are said to be in the sectors of education, water and sanitation, health and social services, economic recovery, and livelihood.

In the sector of education, the PM will visit the University of Bamenda, UBa; the Catholic Nursery and Primary School, Ngomgham; Saint Andrew’s Technical College, SATEC, Alakuma-Mankon; Cameron Baptist Convention, CBC School Complex Nkwen; Islamic Nursery and Primary School Old Town.

Regarding health and social services, Dion Ngute is also programmed to visit Presbyterian High PHC, Mankon to inspect the supply of medical equipment, and the Santa multifunctional Women and Youth Centres.

He is equally expected to visit the Mile 4 Market in Nkwen, the Mile 4 Bridge, the Ntaafi Stadium in Bamendankwe and the Ecole de Champions-Welcome to Bamenda stretch to evaluate ongoing road works.

Before his return to Yaounde tomorrow, the Prime Minister is also awaited to lay the foundation stone for works to commence on the Bamenda intra-urban road.

Since his appointment in January 2019 as Prime Minister, Head of Government, this is his third official visit to the North West Region. 

The Prime Minister is a Special Guest at the 7th PPRD Steering Committee Session. The strategic session is scheduled to take place at the Bamenda Congress hall.
