Meme SDO takes stock of projects executed by Kumba City Council.

Meme SDO, others at one of the project sites

The Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Meme Division of the South West Region, Ntou'ou Ndong Chamberlin, accompanied by his collaborators, have visited some major projects being executed within the Municipality of Kumba.

The SDO carried out the tour Thursday December 5. The visit took him to the new Kumba City Council chambers, the ultra-modern Kumba city grandstand and the World Bank-financed projects in Kumba II Subdivision.

The inspection team also included municipal authorities, divisional delegates, and contractors who oversaw major developments such as the construction of a new ultra-modern City Council edifice, the Kumba City Council grandstand, and the ongoing PDVIR project at Cameroon Street.

At the site of the new Council Chambers, the SDO was marveled at the pace of construction, noting the great advancements since his last visit, when the project was only at the foundation stage.

“I am satisfied, the technicians are satisfied by the work done at the grandstand,” the SDO said, while assessing the ongoing construction at the Kumba City Council grandstand.

“What I can say is that the work is perfectly done, and I am sure that in the nearest future we are going to celebrate these big and wonderful infrastructures,” he added.

The Senior Divisional Officer encouraged all stakeholders involved in the projects to intensify their efforts to ensure their swift completion.

The Kumba City Mayor, Gregory Mewanu, on his part, thanked the Head of State for ensuring Kumba’s inclusion in such critical development projects.

“You can see it happening; the companies are there, the workers are all present, and I think we are going to make it,” Mewanu said.

“The Kumba population is unconditionally ready to support and make sure that this project becomes a reality. You can see the living together that is happening in Kumba,” he added

The City Mayor also highlighted some challenges faced during the construction, particularly regarding the Cameroon Street road. He explained that the maturation of the project and the need to pay indemnities to those who had illegally built on the roads led to delays.
