Donga Mantung: Nkambe vibrating to rhythm of CAMTEL GM's holiday championship.

The championship, which seeks to foster peace and unity, will be staged in several localities across Donga Mantung.

The launching ceremony held Sunday, was presided over by Donga Mantung Senior Divisional Officer, Basiliken George Magloire Emmanuel.

Speaking during the gathering, the civil administrator called on the participants to embrace fair play and be peaceful throughout the tournament.

Poised to engage the youth in different sporting disciplines like football, volleyball, handball and horse race, the opening football match pitted Bo MAG FC and Smart Strikers of Njenso. 

Bo MAG FC inflicted a 3-goal to one spanking on their rivals, Smart Strikers, to take an early lead in their pool which promises to be engaging.
Speaking as he accompanied the SDO, the President of FECAFOOT Donga Mantung Division, Jinda Terence, said the competition will be played at the Subdivisional level, then at the Divisional level, engaging young people throughout the summer holidays.

"The difference this year is that the referees we will be using are all FECAFOOT trained. There will be no room for amateurism", Jinda Terence said.

The competition's donor, Mafor Judith Yah Sunday epse Achidi, is the General Manager of CAMTEL and a strong social mobiliser in her community.

Participants will receive prizes, both in cash and in didactic materials, at the close of the tournament. 

The overall objective of the tournament is to foster peace and build unity amongst sons and daughters of Donga Mantung Division.

Before now…

It should be recalled that Real Madrid of Ako were last year’s winners of the 4th edition of the Mafor Judith Yah Sunday Achidi Football Tournament for Peace.

The team emerged champions of the coveted tournament after defeating Boca Junior of Nwa.

The final was staged Sunday, August 25, 2024.

Donga Mantung Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, Basiliken George Magloire Emmanuel, who presided over the final and prizes award ceremony of the two-months-long soccer tournament, praised the benefactor, Judith Yah Sunday Achidi, who is also General Manager of Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL.

The SDO particularly praised Judith Yah Sunday for using football to promote peace and unity in the Division.

The SDO said the CAMTEL GM’s efforts to sustain and maintain peace as well as encourage living together in her native Division is a great initiative.

He used the occasion to call on all elite of Donga Mantung Division to follow the example of Judith Yah Sunday Achidi.

The administrative chieftain of the Donga Mantung Division had also expressed heartfelt thanks to players and fans for demonstrating the spirit of fair play and brotherhood during the tournament. 

He also commended the organising committee and referees for their commitment to impartiality and fairness throughout the tournament.

It should be mentioned that besides a trophy and gold medals, the winners, Real Madrid of Ako also received a cash prize of FCFA One Million while the runners-up, Boca Junior of Nwa went home with FCFA 600,000 FCFA, in addition to a trophy and silver medals.
