National Assembly speaker, Israeli Ambassador discuss strengthening ties.

This was during an audience Hon Cavaye granted the granted to the Israeli Ambassador on Monday, June 16.

The Speaker was assisted during the audience by the Secretary General of the National Assembly, Essian André Noël; the Director of Cabinet, El Hadj Boukar Abdourahim, as well as the President of the Cameroon-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Group, Hon. Njume Peter Ambang.

During the exchanges which lasted for over 45 minutes, the Speaker and his guest discussed a wide range of issues including the state of cooperation between both countries.

They also conversed on the possibility of promoting and upgrading parliamentary relations between Cameroon and Israel. 

Speaking to the press after the audience, the Israeli diplomat said the broad-based discussion also delved on Israel’s promotion of agriculture, water and development of technology in general. 

“It was a very important meeting this morning with the president of the Parliament. We discussed about different kinds of activity, different kinds of possibility to promote and to upgrade the good relation between our two countries,” the diplomat said.

The audience on Monday was a follow-up of the visit to Israel by the Cameroon-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Group. The said visit which lasted from May the 11 to 15, was led by Hon Njume Peter Ambang, President of the Cameroon-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Group who doubles as President of the Parliamentary Caucus for Health Financing in Cameroon.

“Three of the parliament members from Cameroon just returned back from Israel after a very important visit and they saw our country. They understand the security situation right now in Israel. I'm sure they're going to share this visit with the other parliamentary members in Cameroon,” Ambassador Ammon stated.

When quizzed on areas his country seeks to strengthen with Cameroon, the diplomat said: “We are always talking about agriculture but we are doing as much as we can to have some other subjects here in Cameroon and we are talking about water, technology, high tech and other activities”.

The audience was equally attended by other top administrative officials of the National Assembly notably the Speaker's Special Adviser and the Controller General of Administration and Finance.
