Mfoundi SDO warns against false accusations of penis disappearance.

Emmanuel Mariel Djikdent, Mfoundi SDO

The Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Mfoundi, Djikdent Emmanuel Mariel, has condemned the rise in mob justice fuelled by baseless accusations of penis disappearances in Yaounde.

The information is contained in a communiqué he signed recently.

The communique, copy of which The Guardian Post obtained, is dated Monday, June 10.

According to the communique, the disturbing trend where innocent citizens in Yaounde are being violently attacked over claims they have caused the disappearance of the sex organs of others through mystical means, is condemnable.

The SDO regretted that several recent cases investigated by the police and gendarmerie revealed that accusations made against the victims were completely unfounded.

He cited three separate instances, where it was found that the alleged victims of genital disappearances had no actual injuries or losses.

Shockingly, in at least one of the cases, the supposed victims were already negotiating financial settlements from the accused even before undergoing any medical verification.

“These unfounded claims have led to innocent individuals being beaten and, in some cases, killed by the angry mob,” the communiqué stated.

He categorically condemned what he described as a new form of criminality and urged citizens to refrain from taking justice into their own hands.

He called on the public to be vigilant and report anyone who claims to have lost their genitalia through mystical means, as well as those inciting or participating in mob violence.

The SDO equally warned that individuals spreading such falsehoods, as well as those leading mobs against the accused, will face legal action.

Djikdent equally insisted on the need for citizens to trust the justice system and avoid mob justice that undermines public safety of all.

He urged that National Gendarmerie, Police, as well as local authorities to ensure the implementation of the instruction while insisting on the fact that: “Mob justice has no place in our society. All suspected offenders and instigators must be brought before the law”.
