Lions to face Equatorial Guinea today in friendly.

Lions training ahead of today's game

The men's senior national football team of Cameroon will today face their counterparts of Equatorial Guinea in a high-profile friendly encounter.

The clash, which promises to produce fireworks, shall take place at the Grand Stade of Marrakech, Morocco. It will kick off at 9:00pm local time.

The Indomitable Lions, who are currently ranked 50th of the FIFA ranking are poised for a win against their border neighbors who are the 92nd best nation in the world.

The clash comes barely three days after the five-time African champions thrashed Uganda 3-0 in an international friendly.

The games are part of an invitational tournament dubbed Africa Week Series 2025.

It is taking place from June 6-10 and features five other nations including; Equatorial Guinea, The Gambia, Uganda, Kenya and Chad.

The boys of Coach Marc Brys put up a commanding display to crush their East African rivals.

Enzo Flavien Boyomo opened scoring on 34 minutes.

Jean Batoum, who was one of the two homebased players handed a starting role, doubled the advantage for the team three minutes after the restart before Patrick Soko sealed the win with a 69th minute finish from a Vincent Aboubakar assist.

Boyomo, Batoum and Soko all scored their first goals for the Cameroon national team.

It is that same energy that the Indomitable Lions are taking to their second and final game of the June international window against Equatorial Guinea.

Despite being ranked better than their rivals, the team is determined to secure another win to continue their winning streak.

The Cameroon national team has won all of its last three games.

They have scored nine goals in the process and conceded only one.

The team has also continued to regenerate under their Belgian gaffer.

Since taking over the top job from former Indomitable Lions captain, Rigobert Song, Coach Marc Brys has not lost any game.

He has secured seven wins and four draws in 11 matches played.

That record will be on the line when they face Equatorial Guinea today.

The Nzaland Nacional, as they are fondly called, have endured a topsy-turvy year with two defeats, two draws and a win in their last five games.

Equatorial Guinea were a force to reckon with during last year's Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.

They have been working towards reaching such heights again.

FECAFOOT delegation hails team

The head of the Cameroonian delegation to Morocco for the Africa Week Series, Etienne Tamo has congratulated the players and staff for their opening victory against Uganda.

Tamo hailed the home-based players especially, whom he said put up a stellar performance and turned the games around.

He said it proved that the country's league was not on its knees and can produce talents capable of competing on the big stage.

"With this victory, we understood that there is a championship in Cameroon. The difference in this match was made by local players. We also had a goal goalkeeper, Simon Omossoa. We saw a fine Cameroonian team. I would like to thank the President of FECAFOOT who organises a very good championship in Cameroon," Tamo is quoted to have told Kamerfoot in an interview.

Tamo also saluted the head coach of the team for his choices despite being deprived of many players for the games.

"You saw that the coach congratulated his players. I'd like to give him a shout-out. Calling these players is really something. We had too many injuries. You also know that we are at the end of the championship in most countries," Tamo added during the interview.

Return of serenity in Lions den

According to Tamo, serenity has resumed in the team.

He said the relationship between the players and members of the technical team was testament of the fact that things have returned to normal in the Lions den.

"What we can remember is the result and determination of the players. The atmosphere at the hotel between the coach and his assistants, which we haven't seen in the past, proves that there is a certain harmony. FECAFOOT stayed in its place doing what it had to do. It did not get involved in intrigues," Tamo told Kamerfoot.
