Ring Road construction: Shey Jones Yembe’s MAG Sarl leaving lasting legacy.

This lot of the road is being handled by renowned Societe MAG Sarl of Shey Jones Yembe, a revered elite of Donaga Mantung Division. 

As Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Societe MAG Sarl, Shey Jones Yembe, has in addition to his company’s reputation in other national construction projects, demonstrated his credibility in guiding work on this part of the Ring Road construction in style.

Reports hold that as at May 12, 2025, Societe MAG Sarl had achieved at least 62.32 percent of its work as per contract specifications. 

While many, among them international development partners, are saluting the pace of work, Shey Jones Yembe is being celebrated for coming with a new community model to road construction that has beaten standards.

The marveling milestone, international supervisors monitoring the work and the population of host communities are saying, is a never-seen and go-and-tell story. 

Development experts say the way the Ndu-Nkambe lot of the road is being constructed, with Shey Jones Yembe at the heart of activities, only tells of a legacy that will outlive the Statesman. Others are affirming that it is a story that will be retold across Cameroon and beyond of how Shey Jones Yembe brought innovation to road construction.

Breaking from old tradition, staying selflessness 

Unlike the tradition of repeated interruptions witnessed in development projects, wherein host communities are often cut off and sometimes interrupt work, Shey Jones Yembe has been elevated to higher podiums of celebration, for putting his personal resources, intellect and spending time to spark other benefits associated with the road project.

Amid the fresh beauty of Ndu, Mbiye, Mbot, Binka, Binshua and Nkambe, through which the road passes with work fast advancing, the inspiring tale from what Societe MAG Sarl is doing comes in many sweet forms. 

It is a story that has changed the lives of several young people who have been gainfully employed. 20 others are today experts in operating heavy-duty equipment.

He has also invested hundreds of millions from his pocket to compensate persons and families affected by the road project. 

Shey Jones Yembe has refused to stop at just constructing the modern road to boosting the supply of basic social services such as water, construction of resettlement homes, development, basic social infrastructure, sponsoring health campaigns, fronting vocational education and crusading peace.

Facts that make Shey Jones Yembe & Societe MAG Sarl unique

In keeping with his integrity and the company’s corporate social responsibility, Shey Jones Yembe has kept to the agreement Societe MAG Sarl has with the government in executing the project. 

Additionally, he has put in extra resources to see that the work is done without any hindrances. As it stands, the entire 31-kilometre stretch has been graded and gutters dug.

Reports hold that MAG Sarl has also begun laying the first coat of tar, especially in Nkambe Central, while laterite is also taking shapes on other portions of the same road,

Bulldozers and compactors are busy, day and night, to meet deadlines with an eye for upholding quality and durability. 

Officials supervising construction works have confirmed that with earthwork completed, Societe Mag Sarl is busy paving the road. 

Engineers have disclosed that so far, the first coat of tar has been placed on 8.710 kilo meter of the road. The rate of work regarding this aspect has been put at 16.56 percent.

The company has also completed and installed gutters measuring 2x3. There is also the prefabrication of 8081 slabs among others. 

Work, The Guardian Post gathered, has been programmed to ensure before the heart of the rainy season, sensitive aspects would have been completed.

Shey Jones Yembe bankrolls indemnities 

While it is common knowledge that projects in Cameroon often fail to takeoff due to delays in paying indemnities, Shey Jones Yembe, a private sector actor who has proven his worth repeatedly, has taken a historic path.

He has discarded the sometime back-and-forth meetings that are held in Yaounde to personally pay what is due those affected by the road project. 

Sources have also confirmed to The Guardian Post that he has spent millions of FCFA in this regard.

Societe MAG Sarl has equally paid indemnities to farmers and persons whose properties and crops have been destroyed along the Mbiyeh, Mbot, Binka, Binshua, Nkambe and Binju axis. Those who have seen their kola nuts and pear trees destroyed have also been hugely compensated. 

Meanwhile, those with temporary structures are said to have benefitted compensation from Societe MAG Sarl.

For graves affected, he has ensured the exhumation in strict respect of tradition. Additionally, the concerned families have received financial assistance to rebury their dead in dignity.

Known as an overachiever whose works speak louder, while he remains humble, Shey Jones Yembe is also said to have constructed hundreds of homes that have been touched along the axis of the road construction. 

In addition to these, he is said to have overseen the relocation of those affected to new homes.

Using dev’t to kill separatist agenda, disarm youths

The Shey Jones Yembe-inspired community project realisation model, it is also being said, has eclipsed any trace of separatist illusion in communities along the Ndu-Nkambe stretch of the Ring Road.

The respected and loved patriot, those working on the project said, has ensured young people who had been misguided into taking up arms against the State were sensitised.

In the end, scores of them dumped the separatist agenda and embraced the project. Some, it is being said, benefited employment alongside other young people in the area who have been gainfully employed by Societe MAG Sarl.

Today, the coughing guns that used to disturb projects have given way to bulldozers, excavators, compactors, tippers and heavy equipment for work to advance.

How Shey Jones Yembe reached such heights in sweet-talking the fighters to see the importance of the project, observers say, only adds to his importance as a key community mobiliser and development catalyst.

2,000 students acquire technical skills

While government may have seen just a road project, Shey Jones Yembe, it is now emerging, has added to it a huge window for human capital development.

Engineers say thanks to Shey Jones Yembe’s directives, at least 2,000 technical school students have acquired hands on skills.

In addition, Societe MAG Sarl has organised student study visits to its quarry and prefabrication center. This has been mostly for science and technical students.

Beneficiary students have been from GTHS Nkambe, GHS Binka, Presbyterian High School, PHS Nkambe, University of Nkambe, HIPDET, Government Technical College, GTC Bih; GHS Binka, St. Marceline Binshua, St. Ritas Nkambe, GBHS Nkambe, Vocational College Binka among others.

Boosting community dev’t, social infrastructure

Another aspect where the difference of Societe MAG Sarl as a citizen-friendly company and the levelheadedness of its CEO, Shey Jones Yembe, is shining for all to see is the spinoffs of the project.

This far, engineers disclosed to The Guardian Post that he has made it a strict norm to ensure every broken pipe is repaired under 24 hours.

The company has also installed at least 15 stand taps to ease access to potable water for the benefit of local communities. 

In Binka village, Societe MAG Sarl has constructed a potable water system serving at least 2,000 people. 

Shey Jones Yembe, known for his inclusive spirit, has also ensured the construction of cattle drinking spots to serve the Fulani/Mbororo community involved in livestock. This is the case in Bohdih quarter in Binka.

The company has also levelled a hilly land to ease the construction of the second cycle of Government Technical High School, GTHS Nkambe and Government High School, GHS Nyanji. 

Societe MAG Sarl has, in addition, excavated the foundation to host Binshua Catholic Hospital. 

The company has constructed a two-lane road of four four kilometers long from Nyanji to Binju. It has invested over 900 million FCFA into the relocation of 106 houses, which is still ongoing.

Societe MAG Sarl has constructed and expanded the water catchment in Duka, extending it to Bongfie quarter. There is also the construction of men and women multipurpose hall in Binka. 

The company also ensured the backfilling of Ita Mbong FC football playground in Nkambe.

Community health, environmental campaigns

With the fresh wave of development already trailing the ongoing tarring of the road, Societe MAG Sarl, under Shey Jones Yembe’s impulse, has begun preparing the population for the new lease of life coming their way.

 In this light, the company has marshalled health and environmental campaigns. It has sensitised the population on best practices in dealing with Sexually Transmitted Diseases, STIs such as HIV/AIDS.   

People along the road have also been trained on ecosystem restoration. Officials say another community training on plastic pollution is in the offing.

Shey Jones Yembe forever inspiring

Without being exhaustive, Shey Jones Yembe is in a world of his own when it comes to road construction works. 

But in the Ndu-Nkambe stretch of the Ring Road, others are saying and rightly so that it is a whole new record he has created.

He is an elite and supporter of the Head of State, Paul Biya, who believes in work and not rhetoric.   For a road project divided into three lots, insiders say what is happening with the stretch awarded to Societe MAG Sarl tells of something different about the man Shey Jones Yembe.

Beyond being a philantropist and a businessman, many say they see an unusual love for development and humanity in his style. 

The coming of the road has seen businesses sprouting in Mbiyeh, Mbot, Binka and Nkambe. 

Across Donga Mantung Division, he has been described as an elite who is immeasurable and is forever inspiring.
