Buea Subdivision: Maumu chief installs new quarter heads, traditional council members.

The newly installed were charged with the mandate of assisting the chief to drive the notion of development and peace in Maumu.

The installation ceremony took place on Saturday, May 31. During the event, which unfolded in pure traditional style, the Chairman of the Traditional Council of Maumu, Ndeli Steven Ewese, saluted the great works of the Chief since his designation a year ago. 

Ndeli pledged to continue working hand in glove with the Chief to take Maumu to the level of development it deserves.

Speaking after the installation rituals, HRM Charles Molube Embola IV said the event would have been done long ago, but for the need to select only a dynamic team that can stir development in Maumu. 

He added that the criteria for selection into the prestigious functions of quarter heads and traditional council members were based on integrity and honesty.

Among the members who constitute the traditional council and the fold of quarter heads were indigenous Bakweri natives of Maumu as well as those of other tribes resident in Maumu such as the Ngie and the Ngwos.

The selected persons, according to Chief Molube Embola, have a lot to bring to the table for the development of Muamu village.

“It is good to bring all these different tribes into the council because Maumu is largely inhabited by natives from other tribes, so we integrated them to the function of quarter head and traditional council members to guarantee good governance,” Chief Embola stated. 

The Chief frowned at the illegal sale of community lands and charged the newly installed quarter heads and tradition council members to be vigilant and to report any usurpers of the community lands.

HRM Charles Embola promised to continue with the rich legacy of his predecessor, Chief Williams Molua Liteka III, to make Maumu a referred community in Buea Subdivision.

The 15 newly installed quarter heads and traditional council members unanimously took the resolution to maintain peace and stability in Maumu and to assist the Chief in propelling Maumu’s development. They also promised to work vigilantly so as to remedy the illegal and double sale of community lands.

Other officials present at the installation were HRM Daniel Moki, Chief of Liwula-Malale, elite and a cross section of the community. It should be noted that HRM Charles Mulobe Embola was designated Third Class Chief of Maumu village with the Prefectoral Order number 45/AP/G.37/C83/1AP.
