As electricity supply epileptic: Researcher markets solar energy as alternative for campuses.

The research work facilitated by Yaounde-based leading engineering company specialised in solar installations, New World Technology, was defended before a jury made up of revered university dons.

The defense session was chaired by Professor Alain Isoh, a seasoned researcher in the areas of Business Management and Finance, who obtained a PhD from the Cardiff Metropolitan University Wales, United Kingdom.

Other members of the jury included Jerry Yonga, an accomplished author, professor, and entrepreneur and Deyou Cyrille, an engineer.

The candidate’s work, it should be said, focused on designing a Solar System to Ensure Uninterrupted Power Supply and Video Surveillance: Case Study of Yaounde International Business School, YIBS.

In his findings, Geh Emmanuel, told the jury that solar power not only provides reliable and sustainable energy, but also creates a more conducive learning environment.

He said solar energy also reduces environmental impact, and can even boost a school's attractiveness to potential students.

“The designed solar system with video surveillance provides a reliable, efficient, and sustainable solution for YIBS, addressing power supply reliability and security concerns. While challenges and limitations exist, the benefits of this system make it a viable solution for the school,” he stated.

In his recommendations, Geh Emmanuel, pushed for the implementation of the Designed System at the institution.

“Proceed with implementing the designed solar system and video surveillance system,” he recommended.

Speaking earlier, the Chief Executive Officer, CEO of New World Technology, Fuh Rene Che saluted the candidate for successfully carrying out the research within record time.

Fuh Rene explained to the gathering that his company, New World Technology, is a relatively young enterprise, specialising in in solar installations.

“New World Technology is a young company that started in 2019. We started in neighborhood but we now have an office and we have trainees,” he said.

“We encourage you all to be our ambassadors. Send your relatives and loved ones to us. We will give them quality training in renewable energy,” he added.

Located in the Yaounde-Messasi neighborhood, New World Technology, in less than six years of its creation, has grown exponentially.

The company is specialised in solar installations and maintenance, electrical installations and maintenance, surveillance camera installations and maintenance, air conditioner installations and maintenance.

Meanwhile, Geh Emmanuel Kum, who defended the research work Saturday at the establishment, it should be noted, was born on September 12, 1996 in Esu, Fungom Subdivision, Menchum Division of the North West Region. He attended Government School, GS Esu from 2002-2008.

He obtained his GCE Ordinary Level certificate from Government High School, GHS Esu in 2012 and later his GCE Advanced Level in 2014 from same institution.

In 2016, Geh Emmanuel undertook a marketing and management programme at National Polytechnic Bambui, Bamenda. In 2019, he obtained a certificate in Computer Engineering at COVICOM Yaounde.
