Fundong: Senator Fointama Hilda donates to schools, orphans, farmers.

The Senator’s visit began with a tour to some three major secondary schools in Fundong, where she donated fifteen ultra-modern high-speed computers to facilitate the learning of Information and Communication Technology, ICT. 

Accompanying the computers, were some science textbooks to aid the teaching process for teachers as well as the learning process of students.

At Government Bilingual High School, GBHS Fundong, Christ the King High School, CKHS Fundong, and St Jude College Fundong, Senator Fointama delivered motivational speeches, urging students to remain resilient and focused on academic excellence. 

She emphasised the importance of education in building a prosperous and inclusive Cameroon, pledging to advocate better educational infrastructure and student support programs.

The managements of the various institutions saluted her gesture, adding it will be a great assistance to them, especially in a technologically-driven era. They promised to put the computers and books donated into good use.

Communing with orphans

Senator Fointama also made a heartfelt visit to the Harvest Children's Home orphanage in Fundong, where she donated food items and provisions to care for the vulnerable children. 

In the company of Mayor Denis Awoh Ndang of the Fundong Council, the Senator expressed her resolve to continue supporting disadvantaged children, highlighting the importance of community solidarity in caring for those in need.

The lawmaker was appreciative of the efforts of the management of the orphanage to provide care to the children who have lost their parents. 

As she handed out little packages to the children, she encouraged them to be at their best and to have at the back of their mind that while their parents aren’t alive, the community cares for them.

Support to farmers

In a bid to support local agriculture and enhance food security, Senator Fointama donated farming tools to local farmers. This was during the National Day celebration on May 20 at the Fundong municipal grandstand.

The donated items included cutlasses, hoes, wheelbarrows, and watering cans. She encouraged the farmers to continue working diligently, assuring them of continued support for sustainable farming initiatives.

Prior to offering the farming tools, the Senator visited the tomato farm of a youth by name Chia Christian. She appreciated the effort of the young farmer, who together with other youth in the area have been putting in their resources to produce tomatoes in great quantities to meet the demand of households. 

During her stay in Fundong, the lawmaker equally paid a courtesy visit on the Fon of Kom, HRH Clement Ndzi II. Senator Fointama was received with traditional honours and blessings, with the Paramount Ruler of the Kom people, commending her commending her dedication to service, humility, and community development.

While reaffirming her commitment to preserving the cultural values of the Kom people, the Senator equally pledged to continue advancing the socio-economic welfare of the Kom and Boyo as a whole. 

Contribution to nation building crowned with decoration

The lawmaker who is in her first mandate in the Senate has so far made remarkable contributions to better the lives of the people she’s representing.

Her contributions, largely in the education sector, with the donations of books, benches, computers in Bum, Belo and Fundong aligns squarely with her vision of promoting education, especially that of the girl child.

In it in this light that she was honoured with a state medal during the May 20th celebrations.

Boyo Senior Divisional Officer, Saidou Moussa, on behalf of the Head of State, President Paul Biya, decorated her with Knight of the Cameroon Order of Valour. 

As Senator Fointama left Fundong, she promised to continue to give a listening ear to everyone and declared her availability to support community efforts whenever she is called up.
