Manyu: Eyumojock DO galvanizes population to fete Nat'l Day in style.

DO Besinga presiding May 20 celebrations

The Divisional Officer, DO, of Eyumojock Subdivision, Manyu Division of the South West Region, Ely Itone Besinga, mobilised the population of his administrative unity Tuesday, May 20, to feast the 53rd edition of the National Day in style.

Celebrations at the Eyumojock ceremonial ground featured the presence of people from the 66 villages of the Subdivision.



The event took place under the theme: “Army and the nation united for a Cameroon turned towards peace and prosperity”.

At the end of celebrations, the administrator saluted the population and security forces for making the Day a success. Besinga hailed the participation of youths from neighbouring Nigerian villages. 

He said their presence was a show of love and brotherliness between Cameroon and Nigeria and the living together as preached by President Paul Biya.

Besinga also praised the contributions of the Member of Parliament, MP, of Eyumojock, Hon Tanyi Teku; Mayor of Eyumojock Council, Ntufam Ayamba Ita Jacques, traditional rulers among others.

He also saluted young people who have left the bushes and embraced peace in line with the advice of the Head of State. Some activities that spiced the day in Eyumojock included; Sketches, playback, poems, military parade and a civilian march past.

The ceremony started shortly after the arrival of the Divisional Officer. Besinga first proceeded to award medals to some meritorious citizens. Then came different components of the defense and security forces such as; the National Gendarmerie, the army and police before schools took the queue.

Prizes were awarded to meritorious individuals and youths who took part in week-long activities to mark the Day. After the festivities, the DO appealed to the population to continue collaborating with security forces to ensure peace reigns.

The Mayor of Eyumojock, Chief Ayamba Ita, praised the massive turnout of the population. He said the turnout shows the people believe in State institutions and Republican values.

He said Eyumojock Council will continue to work with all groups to ensure serenity across the 66 villages of the municipality.

The Member of Parliament for Eyumojock lauded the fact that relative peace is all over the administrative unit. Hon Teku said more effort will be put in to ensure things return to the pre-2016 period before the crisis in the English-speaking Regions.
