Quality training attracts over 1,000 students to Yaounde Int’l Business School.

YIBS officials, teaching staff pose with freshmen after matriculation ceremony

Over 1,000 first year students of various diploma and degree programmes at the Yaounde International Business School, YIBS, have taken the matriculation oath.

The newly admitted students took the oath to abide by the rules and regulations of the higher institution, during a ceremony organised Saturday, November 9, 2024.

The event, which took place at the St. Peter and Paul Anglophone Parish Hall in Simbock, Yaounde, was chaired by the YIBS Vice Chancellor, Rev Prof Anyambod Emmanuel Anya. 

The representative of the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Prof Jacques Femme Ndongo, and a host of university lecturers and important personalities, graced the event. 

The ceremony was also marked by the installation of executives of YIBS Student Union, that was elected to coordinate the activities of the students on YIBS’ two campuses.

 

 

Enter YIBS Vice Chancellor 

In his keynote address, the Vice Chancellor of YIBS, Rev Prof Anyambod Emmanuel Anya, said the institution has committed herself to excellence in a bid to meet the aspirations of students and by extension, the wishes of their parents, guardians and sponsors. 

He said it is on this that the school is attached to the University of Bamenda, Uba, in the North West Region, to guarantee the quality of training in a competitive world of complexes. 

Rev Prof Anyambod also saluted the Ministry of Higher Education for its relentless efforts in guaranteeing the functionality of creditable higher institutes of learning in the education of young Cameroonians.  

 

 

Freshmen urged to abide by school rules 

The oath to abide by the rules and regulations governing the institution, was administered to the freshmen, by YIBS Registrar, Manyi Beryl.

Speaking to the newly admitted students, Rev Prof Anyambod said the ceremony marked their formal entry into the university milieu, after having fulfilled all the admission procedures and approved by the University of Bamenda. 

He reminded the freshmen that by taking the matriculation oath, they have accepted to abide by the rules and regulations of the university, which is contained in the Student Code of Conduct. 

While calling on the freshmen to collaborate with YIBS Student Union Government, he urged them to be inquisitive and to make the best out of their stay at the institution, so as to emerged as real innovators and entrepreneurs. 

“Ask questions until there is nothing else to be asked. Own the school and make it your second home. Make the best out of it and be a real innovator well-groomed to be an entrepreneur who succeeds against the odds in a competitive world,” the YIBS Vice Chancellor declared.

He further emphasised that the students are the architects of their success story at the YIBS and as such, must stay focus and tuned into the right channels of life.

 

 

Parents told they made the right choice

Thanking the parents and guardians present at the event, for entrusted their children to YIBS, the Vice Chancellor assured them that they made the right choice. 

“Keep your own part of the bargain and leave the rest to me and my team, believing that great heights that were attained were not attained at a sudden flight but through hard work and determination…and that greater heights were attained with excellence,” the VC asserted. 

He maintained that “…our partnership is that of commitment and devotion towards the realisation of the emergence of 2035; called for by H.E. President Paul Biya, the guarantor of a sustainable economy of Cameroon. The emergence wouldn't be realised through a miracle but through concentration, persistence and insistence on a specific goal”.

 

 

Student Union leaders commissioned 

Leaders of YIBS Students’ Union who were installed into their functions during the event, were tasked to maintain a cordial relationship with their fellow mates, transmit official information from the administration to them and to act as liaison officers between the students and the administration.

The Students’ Union, led by Radah Kathleen Mundi, as president, was equally challenged to organise social activities for the students, maintain order and discipline on both campuses and to ensure proper care of the equipment put at their disposal in the Students’ Union Office.

In carrying out their missions, the Students’ Union was told to ensure they work in strict compliance with accountability, transparency and being corruption-free.

“I now install you to your various offices to be assiduous and dutiful in your various responsibilities in the interest of YIBS and the Ministry of Higher Education,” the Vice Chancellor emphasised.

It operates professional training programmes for Accountancy, Insurance, Banking and Finance, Project Management, Human Resource Management, Customs and Transit Management, Software Engineering, Computer Graphics and Web Designing, Computer Science and Network, Fashion Designing and Clothing, Educational Management and Administration, Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, and Medical Laboratory Sciences amongst other fields.
