Lions to face Uganda, E. Guinea at Africa Week 2025 tourney.

The men's senior national football team of Cameroon will face Uganda and Equatorial Guinea next month during the FIFA international window for the month of June.

The pairings were confirmed by the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT.

This is in a letter addressed to the head coach of the Indomitable Lions, Marc Brys.

FECAFOOT stated in the letter that as part of the FIFA period of June 2-10, it has "negotiated and obtained the organisation of two friendly national matches with the national team". FECAFOOT said the matches will take place in Marrakesh, Morocco.

According to the letter, the Lions will face Uganda at the Marrakech Big Stadium on June 6 and shall challenge Equatorial Guinea three days later in the same facility. The matches, it was disclosed, shall begin at 8:00p.m. local time.

In the letter, FECAFOOT also tasked Coach Marc Brys to send the list of players for the upcoming matches within 72 hours.

It should be recalled that the FIFA International window for the month of June coincides with the holding of the second edition of the Africa Week, a friendly tournament that will feature teams from across the continent.

The matches officials said shall be an opportunity for the Lions to return to action after a period in the cold.  The five-time African champions last played on March 25.

This was during qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup against group D rivals Libya. The boys of Coach Marc Brys recorded a 3-1 win to return to winning ways after a disappointing goalless draw against Eswatini six days earlier.

The Lions will use the friendlies to begin preparations for the World Cup qualifiers which resume in September. They shall face Eswatini at home on September 1 before travelling over to face current leaders, Cape Verde, in a crunch clash on September 5.

The Lions are currently second on the table with 12 points from six matches. They are only one point behind Cape Verde who sit at the top.

Cameroon is hoping to finish the qualifiers as group winners to seal an automatic spot for the 2026 World Cup for the ninth time. The newly expanded tournament is scheduled to take place in the United States of America, USA, Mexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
