North Region: Customs seizes 220 fake Indomitable Lions jerseys.

Fake jerseys seized by customs officers

Customs officials in the North Region have seized a consignment of counterfeit Indomitable Lions jerseys. The jerseys were seized during an operation reported to have been carried out on Monday, May 12, at the Sanguéré mixed control post in the Benoue Division.

The operation, reports hold, led to the seizure of 220 fake jerseys bearing the logo of Fourteen, the new official kit supplier of the country’s national football team.

The crackdown is reported to have been carried out by officers of the Garoua II and III Mobile Customs Brigade. The officers are said to have received information relating to the concealed contraband jerseys.

Customs sources are quoted to have noted that the fake jerseys were discreetly hid within a luggage aboard a public transport bus bound for Ngaoundere.

A thorough search of the bus is said to have led to the discovery of two parcels tucked among the passengers’ baggage.

Officers are said to have discovered counterfeit replicas of the Indomitable Lions’ official jersey, recently launched by French sportswear brand Fourteen.

Recall that the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, unveiled Fourteen as its official kit supplier only on April 2, 2025. The seized jerseys are said to have been handed over to the competent authorities for destruction.

Meanwhile, individuals linked to the transportation of the goods are reportedly in custody as investigations continue. Authorities are also said to have launched an operation to dismantle a vast network said be behind illicit trade across the North Region and beyond.

The seizure, it should be said, is the second major interception of fake Indomitable Lions jerseys since the switch to the Fourteen brand.

The first occurred was on April 25 in Idenau, South West Region, where customs officers impounded some 20 counterfeit jerseys in a similar operation.

Customs officers are said to have called on the population to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity linked to the counterfeiting of the jersey.

Not long ago, FECAFOOT and the Customs Department signed an agreement to stop the illegal production of official gears of the national football team.
