2025 presidentials: Chenwi Peter mobilises NW youth to raise 7 million FCFA for Biya's candidacy.

The dynamic Mayor of Bamenda II Council in Mezam Division, Chenwi Peter, has mobilised young people across the North West Region to boost support for President Biya’s re-election bid, come October this year.

Fruits of Chenwi’s mobilisation came to the fore during a grand rally in Bamenda on Friday, May 10, 2025.



The Bamenda II mayor, together with the youth of the Region, presented seven million FCFA they raised, to the President of the National Bureau of YCPDM, Auguste Essomba, for onward transmission to Biya.

Chenwi said the money is part of the support of young people across the North West Region, for Biya to seek re-election this year.

As member of the National Bureau of the YCPDM and Coordinator of activities in the North West Region, Chenwi was at the heart of the event in Bamenda, which grouped several members of government and hundreds of ruling party supporters. He was also the head of the Organising Committee of the huge event.

Auguste Essomba and the Acting Head of the Central Committee Permanent Regional Delegation for the North West, Senator Regina Mundi, lauded the initiative of the young people.

The money was contributed by supporters of the CPDM youth wing from the 34 Sections of the CPDM in the North West Region.

Chenwi was saluted for his prowess in rallying young people from across the board. The Bamenda rally featured thousands of YCPDM supporters from the seven Divisions of the Region. 

Thanks to Chenwi, attendees renewed their commitment to support President Paul Biya. The Chenwi-led gathering resulted in the reading of a motion of support addressed to the Head of State.

 

Counting gains under Biya

The workaholic Bamenda II Mayor stated Biya’s commitment to bringing long-lasting peace and development to the Region; in addition to other projects in the interest of young people, as being salutary.

In other speeches, the North West YCPDM saluted the advancement of the implementation of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions, PPRD-NW/SW, acceleration of works on the Bamenda-Babadjou road and the Ring Road from Kumbo through Ndu to Misaje.

To them, efforts to reintegrate youth who have been radicalised by the armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions, through the Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration, DDR Centre are also to be saluted.

While pledging their unalloyed support for the candidature of President Paul Biya and a 100% vote in his favour during the upcoming presidential poll, the youth reiterated an earlier appeal made by all supporters in the Region for him to launch his campaign in Bamenda.

Mayor Chenwi worked alongside Mayor Dighambong Anthony of Wum Council, who is also a member of the YCPDM National Executive.

YCPDM National President lauds initiative

CPDM National Youth President, Auguste Essomba, saluted the youths of the North West Region for their attachment to the vision of the Head of State. 

Essomba praised the young party supporters for their resilience, courage, and dynamism. He told them that Biya remains the best option for the country.

 

Enter Senator Regina Mundi

Senator Regina Mundi, Acting Head of the CPDM Central Committee Permanent Regional Delegation for the North West Region, praised the youths for their enthusiasm and commitment to the party. 

She urged them to translate their words into action and work towards delivering a landslide victory for President Biya. 

Mundi emphasised that the party's success depends on the active participation of its youth members. She called on them to be proactive in promoting the party's agenda.

Senator Mundi was accompanied to the event by Minister Mbah Acha Rose and Fai Yengo Francis, recently appointed CPDM Central Committee Permanent Divisional Delegation heads for Momo and Bui respectively. 

Also in attendance were Prof Ghogomu Paul, Minister of Special Duties at the Presidency; Minister Felix Mbayu in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth at the Ministry of External Relations, Yah Judith Sunday, General Manager of Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL; Hon Njingum Musa, Questor at the National Assembly and Prof Uphie Chinje, an elite of the North West Region.
