Ntarinkon Credit Union expands to Northern Regions.

Government has through the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Vina Division of the Adamawa Region, Valery Nobert Kuela, saluted the huge support of Ntarinkon Cooperative Credit Union, NtaCCUL, to the economy of the country.



Kuela heaped praises on the financial institution on May 8, during a ceremony to launch the Ngaoundere branch of the leading microfinance institution.

The SDO told the population of Ngaoundere that NtaCCUL has proven its worth as a financial institution of reference in serving Cameroonians.  Kuela said the coming of the financial institution to Ngaoundere is a major boost to the business environment.

He noted that the branch will enhance financial inclusion, open new avenues for investment and make it easy for business transactions between the northern regions and the South of the country.

The SDO advised key actors in the livestock, agriculture sectors and petty traders to identity with NtaCCUL. The administrator noted that Ngaoundere is a junction town that serves several regions. 

He said the branch will make things easier for business persons who use to have accounts in financial institutions only in the South. With NtaCCUL now closer to the people, he sounded positive that there will be a turnaround in several businesses.

Kuela remarked at the occasion that given the history of Ntarinkon Credit Union as an institution that respects the laws in force, people should rush to open accounts there.

Kuela said NtaCCUL has many attractive services that will benefit the population. He reminded the audience that, the financial institution offers services that they should make use of.

“The coming of Ntarinkon Credit Union to Ngaoundere is a major economic boost to economic operators who operate in the northern regions and the South of the country. With the opening of this branch, I urge economic operators to open accounts with the credit union to ease their activities,” Kuela stated.

Salutes NtaCCUL’s highest interest on savings offer

Still talking about the uniqueness of the financial institution, the SDO singled out its 6 percent interest on savings as something the population should make use of.

He equally expressed delight that it is easy to get loans from NtaCCUL. Kuela declared that: “Ntarinkon credit union we all know, offers good services. We talked of the interest of savings which is at six percent and granting of loans. These are things we will not see in other financial institutions. Ntarinkon offers support to both big and small businesses. So I call on people of all categories to become members of the credit union”.

 

‘NtaCCUL has more to offer’

The SDO also affirmed that beyond the basics of microfinance institution, NtaCCUL has more to offer. He reiterated that: “Ntarinkon credit Union has a lot of advantages that benefit its members. I encourage economic operators especially those in poultry, livestock, agriculture and other sectors to come and open their accounts. There is a lot that the credit union can offer them to boost businesses. Even learners can benefit through the opening of special saving accounts”.

He said the credit union is celebrated for its role in poverty alleviation and wealth creation. Kuela also expressed delight that Ntarinkon credit Union is supporting the government in contributing to the wellbeing of citizens.

Adjusting services to include Islamic financing

The General Manager, GM, of NtaCCUL, Ade Muma Divine, told reporters that with the Nganoundere branch, they are going to expand services to include Islamic financing.

Muma said on that basis, the expansion will be on the basis of sharing profit and loss in addition to the known system of interest on savings.

The GM restated that: “NtaCCUL is a credit union that is changing the lives of people, making the poor rich. So the main difference is that we diagnose the problem of the poor and we give solutions. For instance we grant soft credits to farmers, petty traders at lower interest rates than any other microfinance institution”.

 

Board Chairperson heralds credibility

The Chairperson of the Board of Directors of NtaCCUL, Barrister Akum Miranda Bih, underscored that given its 53 years history, the institution has credibility.

Barrister Akum said NtaCCUL has been tried and tested as the credit union that is at the fore front of poverty alleviation.

“When we started in 1972, the goal was to expand to all the Regions.  So with the opening of this branch, we are able to sell financial products and services and to all the people of the community,” Akum noted. 

She averred that the Ngaoundere branch “…will enhance financial inclusion. We are going to alleviate poverty”. She also said the institution will offer employment to people of the area.
