At audience with PM: Presidential Majority renews trust in Biya ahead of October poll.

Bochong El Hadj Lawan Bako: Spokesperson of Presidential Majority

Renowned political alliance of approximately twenty political parties, the Presidential Majority, has declared the National President of ruling CPDM party, Paul Biya, as their candidate of choice, for the October 2025 presidential election. 



The group that has been in political romance with the CPDM, since 1992, has again reaffirmed its unwavering support for 92-year-old President Biya, who has been at the helm of the State for 43 years.

The group's stance was made clear during an audience that was granted them at the at the Star Building, by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Dr Chief Joseph Dion Ngute.

The delegation to the Star Building comprised leaders from both long-standing and newly formed political parties, who are members of the Presidential Majority.

The delegation conveyed a united message of support for President Biya's policies and pledged their full participation at this year’s National Day (20th May) parade. 

The Spokesperson of the Presidential Majority, who doubles as National President of the United Democratic Party, UDP, Bochong El Hadj Lawan Bako, told reporters at the end of the meeting that discussions with the Prime Minister were “extensive”.

Quizzed on the purpose of the visit to the Star Building, EL Hadj Lawan Bako was categorical: "We came to reaffirm our stand that President Paul Biya remains the candidate of the Presidential Majority". 

The group equally expressed their confidence in President Biya's ability to address the challenges facing the country in different fronts, as he has been doing for the past 43 years. 

"We reaffirmed our support for President Biya, praying God Almighty to help him solve the problems of this country, because he knows them," Bochong El Hadj Lawan Bako stated. 

The veteran politician stressed that the Presidential Majority has been committed to assisting President Biya in resolving challenges facing the nation, since 1992 and believes their voices will be heard.

"We asked the Prime Minister to convey several messages to the President of the Republic, regarding everything he is doing for the smooth running of peace and democracy in our country. We reaffirm our full support for his candidacy. He is the candidate of the Presidential Majority," Bako added. 

Aside pledging their loyalty to State institutions and the person who incarnates them, the UDP Chairman, on behalf of the group, also emphasised the coalition's commitment to a successful 53rd National Day celebration, come May 20, 2025. 

"We of the Presidential Majority will participate massively in National Day festivities. We will mobilise all our supporters for a total success," he promised.

 

Enter PM Dion Ngute

In his remarks after listening to the Spokesman of the Presidential Majority, the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Dr Chief Joseph Dion Ngute, saluted the Presidential Majority’s show of support for the Head of State and other national issues. 

"You have chosen to belong to the Presidential Majority…you have made the right choice," a visibly elated Dion Ngute said. 

The Head of Government urged the political party leaders to fulfill their commitment, by mobilising their supporters for the upcoming National Day and the October 2025 election. 

"This is an opportunity to fulfill your commitment, through the mobilisation of each of your supporters to achieve our objectives," Dion Ngute advised.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of a unified front for May 20 parade, and its significance in preserving national unity. 

"More immediate is the effective and massive participation at the May 20, 2025, parade, for the preservation of the unity of this country," he noted.
