For effectively implementing Biya's health vision: Three Lamidos honour Minister Manaouda Malachie in grand north.

Minister Manaouda paraded by Lamido after recognition

The workaholic Minister of Public Health and illustrious elite of the Northern Regions, Dr Manaouda Malachie, has been honoured and conferred three rare traditional titles by Lamidos of the grand north.

The titles were bestowed on the revered and tireless servant of the nation, on the sidelines of his working visit to the Northern Regions, from from May 9 to 11, 2025. The traditional rulers said he was honoured for his rare and effective implementation of President Paul Biya’s health vision across the nation.

The Lamidos in separate ceremonies, told the population that the traditional titles are their little way of expressing gratitude to their emblematic and illustrious son, for his lifechanging initiatives, undertaken across the three Northern Regions and in other parts of the country, to better the health situation of Cameroonians.

Dr Manaouda, who never ceases to arouse admiration, respect and affection across the country's three Northern Regions, was first honoured in Ngong, by the Lamido of the locality, His Majesty Boubakari Moussa.

There, he was elevated to the prestigious rank of Sarkin Likita, loosely translated to mean ‘Minister of Health’, in Fulani tradition.

The distinction, His Majesty Boubakari Moussa said, underlines the recognition of the traditional authorities for the minister's determined action on behalf of the population, particularly in rural areas.

In the same vein, the Lamido of Baschéo, His Majesty Yaouba Bouba, was keen to honour Minister Manaouda. He awarded him the title of Sarki Garkoua, meaning ‘Special Adviser’ to the Lamido.

The highly symbolic gesture, officials said, testifies to the trust and admiration Dr Manaouda commands in the most respected traditional circles.

The high point of the wave of popular recognitions came on Sunday, May 11, in Guider.

There, it was in an atmosphere of popular jubilation, punctuated by song, dance and demonstrations, that the Lamido of Guider, His Majesty Yaya Bouhari, elevated Dr Manaouda to the rank of Touraki, meaning Ambassador of the Lamidat of Guider.

The Lamido said the title is a vibrant tribute to the career of a man whose actions and closeness to the people echo in every corner of the Far North Region.

Officials said the recognitions reflect not only the sincere love that the people have for Minister Manaouda, but also the stature that he now embodies as a committed leader, a man of vision, and a son of the soil, who honours and elevates his people.

These recognitions, sources say, are a testimony that Minister Manaouda is a worthy representative of his people, a public health builder, an ambassador of solidarity and a model of leadership.

Dr Manaouda, those versed with his field work attest, is unquestionably a key figure on the national scene, a pillar of progress and a symbol of unity.
