To preserve peace, maintain order: Tubah DO imposes dust-to-dawn curfew on motorbikes.

Divisional Officer, Massango Metougue Narcisse

The Divisional Officer, DO, of Tubah Subdivision, Mezam Division of the North West Region, Massango Metougue Narcisse, has prohibited the circulation of motorbikes from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

He has also outlawed the transportation of more than one passenger on a motorbike within the Subdivision. Massango took the decisions through an order he signed on May 6, 2025.

In the release, the DO revealed that the order was signed considering the high rate of terrorist activities through the use of motorbikes in the Tubah Subdivision, and also considering the necessity to preserve peace and maintain public order in Tubah.

The release stated that “the circulation of motorbikes from 6:00p.m. to 6:00a.m. are thereby banned and there should be no transportation of more than one passenger on any bike in Tubah Subdivision”.

The DO instructed all commercial bike riders to “put on their council jackets and be in possession of their badges ready to present to the Forces of Law and Order at any checkpoint in Tubah Subdivision”.

He warned that defaulters of the decision shall be prosecuted and punished in accordance with laws and regulation in force. He instructed the Mayor of Tubah Council, heads of defence and security forces in the administrative unit and traditional authorities of Tubah, to in their different spheres of competence, ensure the strict implementation of the decision.

The decision, it should be said, comes after series of attacks in the Subdivision by gunmen suspected to be separatist fighters. Last week an attack by separatist led to the killing of a lawyer and another elder person.
