Mbonge Council in Meme Division of the South West Region, has emerged first in the execution of Public Investment Projects, PIP.

The statistics were made public during the Meme third quarter Divisional Participatory Follow-up Committee meeting of Public Investment Projects.

It took place October 22 at the Kumba I Council hall. The records placed Mbonge Council with eight projects, scoring 90 percent in physical realisation of projects.

Meanwhile, a review of the 2023 projects in Meme Division shows that Kumba III Council has realised all its 11 projects awarded in 2023 while the other Councils have scored over 50 percent of physical execution of their projects as well.

At the close of the meeting, the Vice Chair of the Meme Divisional Participatory Follow Up Committee, Francesca Zemenjo, noted that the output of the Councils has been impressive, though not satisfactory.

She stated that the far-reaching recommendations taken during the follow up meeting shall be forwarded to the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Meme, Ntou'ou Ndong Chamberlin.

This, she said, is for the administrator to intervene and push the councils and contractors to hasten up their work. She said the deadline for the close of the financial year fixed for November 15 is fast approaching.

Zemenjo also called on the councils to engage worked on all their abandoned projects for 2021, 2022 since they have been given deadline or pay penalties.

For her part, the Meme Divisional Delegate for the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Tankeu Stephanie, corroborated the Vice Chair, stating that the result is not all satisfactory.

She added that at this time of the year, the expected result of physical execution of projects was placed at 75 percent as the year is coming to an end. She, however, congratulated councils for their commitment and resilience as much has been done to improve on the rate of physical execution.

“During the 2nd quarterly follow up committee meeting we were at 28 percent and now 60.01 percent," she said, urging the various actors to speed up work to ensure 100 percent execution before the next meeting.
