Civilo-military action in Kumba: BIR donates beaches, didactics to GBHS Mambanda, GTC Teke.

Symbolic handing over of didactics

Soldiers of the Sixth Region of the Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR, Tuesday October 22, donated benches and some didactics to ease the teaching and learning process at the Government Bilingual High School, GBHS, Mambanda and Government Technical College, GTC, Teke, in Meme Division of the South West Region.

The items including, amongst others, 107 benches to be divided equally, chalks, rulers, pens, pencils were donated at the Mambanda GBHS campus. It was in the presence of the school administrators, students and staff of both schools.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony, the Commander of the Sixth BIR Region in charge of the South West Region, Colonel Onana Gilles Mbarga, said the gesture was to give back to the community as part of their civilo-military action.

He added that this will strengthen collaboration and exchange between civilian and the military to help end the bloodshed in the North West and South West Regions.

According to Colonel Onana, the BIR is not only for war, but also has activities of human interests to foster collaboration with the population. He urged the young students to take their education seriously, because they can only succeed through school.

“...we came here today because charity begins at home and we think that if we want to continue our charity works, our immediate neighbours, which are GTC Teke and GBHS Mambanda should be the immediate beneficiaries,” he disclosed.

“What they have given was exactly what we needed and we are saying that we will not cry again. We wish that they come more often for the growth of the school. I also thank the teaching staff of the schools for their job well done," she said.

The principal and staff were later treated to a sumptuous meal after the ceremony, offered by the defence forces.
