Going by Bishop Agapitus, the response was thanks to the benevolent gesture of some Christians of the church following news of the incident.  He said the charity arm of the Catholic Church, Caritas swung into action and mobilised the support that was handed to the fire victims.

He promised the victims of the fire incident more support when the Church would have mobilised additional resources for their benefit.

“The Catholic Church through its charitable organization Caritas carries out its humanitarian works irrespective of your denominations. So, whether you're Catholic or not, we are here for the victims and we hope they received our gifts in good faith," Bishop Agapetus said.

He called on the victims to be prayerful and remain patient. He urged the victims to also thank God that despite the incident, no life was lost. The prelate later prayed with the victims and later supervised the distribution of the gifts.
