On visit to Garoua: Minister Nalova Lyonga launches project to raise performance of learners.

The Minister of Secondary Education, Professor Nalova Lyonga, has flagged off an ambitious project which seeks to boost the performance of learners in the northern regions of the country.

The project dubbed “Reducing Gaps, Changing the Discourse”, was launched Friday in the city of Garoua in the North Region.



This was during a ceremony held on the campus of the Government Bilingual Technical High School, GBTHS Garoua.
The ceremony was in commemoration of the 22nd edition of National Guidance Counselling Day. The Day was celebrated under the theme: “Guidance counselling and its services in schools".

The ceremony was attended by the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Secondary Education in charge of Teacher Training, Boniface Bayaola, the Governor of the North Region, Jean Abate Edii, as well as other officials of the Ministry of Secondary Education and dignitaries of the North Region.

The ambitious ‘Reducing Gaps, Changing the Discourse’ project, which was launched during the ceremony aims to raise the performance of learners in the three northern regions of Adamawa, the North and the Far North.

The project seeks to facilitate access to quality teaching resources for learners through distance education. 

As part of efforts to facilitate access to quality education, a large donation of IT equipment, consisting of computers and other IT equipment and accessories was handed over to secondary education authorities in the three regions, with instructions to make very good use of it for the benefit of learners.
