Yaounde: Police parades gang of notorious armed robbers.

Gang of suspected arm robbers

Police officers of the 10th District Police Station of Yaounde at the Bastos neighbourhood, have paraded a gang of six notorious armed robbers specialised in stealing household equipment in the capital city.

The six suspected armed robbers were presented to the media in Yaounde Thursday October 17.



They were publicly presented at the 10th District Police Station in Yaounde. The suspected hoodlums were arrested after a successful investigation led by the Head of the 10th District Police Station, Police Commissioner, Wanko Pesauk Arnaud.

The suspected armed robbers include Ongoa Bitomol Autric also known as Mbarga Nguele. He is said to be the leader of the gang.

Others members include Avoulou Stephane, Tchakounang Franck, Ngweth Bitomoc Pierre, Essaga Jean Marie and Nsegbe Serge Christian. 

They are said to have stolen items such as television sets, laptops, mobile phones and other electronics, wigs, and household equipment.

How they carry out in operations

The Head of the 10th District Police Station, Wanko Pesauk Arnaud, told the media that the gang was arrested after several complaints from the population about attacks on their homes.

Wanko disclosed that the investigation was intensified after their recent robbery which led to a special operation to recover the items stolen and also capture the gang.

“They were arrested during a special operation put in place by the 10th District Police Station in Bastos. The items stolen are from different homes in the different neighborhoods they operate in private homes, public places, enterprises and other areas,” said Commissioner Wanko.

He disclosed that the suspect robbers are mostly specialised in using giant twicers and crowbars to forcefully break into houses.

“The gang mostly target victims who have traveled or who work in the night. They come to the house, forcefully open the door and empty the house. They divide themselves to carry out the operation and later come back to assemble all the stolen items,”, Commissioner Wanko explained.

He explained that the private security agents present in the neighbourhoods where the gang operated noticed the different items they transport every daily, and immediately called the police who immediately launched an investigation.

 

Victim explains 

A victim present at the police station who refused to be identified told the media that the gang break into his house when he had travelled out of Yaounde.

He said the hoodlums forced opened his door and carted away almost everything in his house. He further explained that he immediately he got back and saw his house emptied. The victim disclosed that he immediately drew the attention of the police.
