The Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, and the President of the renowned Italian chocolate producer, Domori, Giuseppina Piccigallo, have discussed avenues for partnership in the cocoa sector.

The minister and the Italian businessman, accompanied by her colleague, Andrea Mecozzi, were discussing in Yaounde on Monday, October 14. This was during an audience the minister granted them at the Ministry of Trade.

Minister Mbarga Atangana made the information public through a statement published on the official social media handles of his ministry.

Speaking at the meeting, Giuseppina Piccigallo stressed the importance of collaborating with public authorities in Cameroon.

"It is vital for a company like Domori to have the support of the Cameroonian government, as our policy also aims to promote cocoa-producing countries such as Cameroon," she stated.

Piccigallo further emphasised the distinct quality of Cameroonian cocoa. "Cameroon's cocoa is well-fermented and has an aroma that sets it apart from all other cocoa varieties, making it unique and enabling the production of high-quality chocolate," she said.

Responding to the Italian businessmen, Minister Mbarga Atangana, on behalf of the government, reaffirmed commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance the nation's production capabilities and strengthen Cameroon’s position in the global cocoa market.

According to the minister, by fostering collaborations with industry leaders like Domori, the country aims to ensure that its cocoa receives the recognition it deserves, for its unique qualities and contribution to high-end chocolate production.

This promising collaboration between Cameroon and Domori, the government official remarked, is an opportunity for the nation’s cocoa sector, paving the way for enhanced international visibility and economic growth.

About Domori

Domori, founded in 1997, has established itself as a major player in the fine cocoa processing industry, consistently ranking among the top ten chocolate producers worldwide.

The company's focus on high-quality chocolate production has earned it a reputation for excellence, and its desire to forge deeper ties with Cameroon reflects the exceptional quality of the country’s cocoa.

For several years, Domori has worked closely with Cacao de Nkogekogo Scoops Ca, a cooperative led by Aristide Tchemtchoua.

It was revealed that Domori's annual production exceeds 170 tons of cocoa, and its innovative approach has positioned the company at the forefront of the chocolate industry.

It was the first chocolate producer to exclusively manufacture chocolate using fine cocoa, rediscovering an ancient and pure formula of cocoa paste and sugar.  Today, the company produces a wide array of gourmet chocolates, supplying to pastry chefs, haute cuisine, and specialised retailers around the world.
