Officers of the Sixth BIR Region with headquarters in Mambanda, Kumba, have killed one of the most dreaded Amba warlords who has been terrorising the entire Konye Subdivision, Meme Division of the South West Region.

The self-styled separatist chieftain, identified as Mukube Ekal Romeo, Alias "General Black Rappen", was killed Saturday, October 12, 2024.

He was killed alongside two of his foot soldiers in Mukwalibe village in Konye Subdivision. This was during an operation carried out by BIR soldiers in the locality.

Going by soldiers of the Sixth BIR Region, the Amba warlord was neutralized on the heels of the visit of the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Meme, Ntou'ou Ndong Chamberlain.

The administrator had visited the Subdivision to take pulse of the reopening of schools and the security situation of the Subdivision.

The BIR soldiers hailed the collaboration of the population of Konye, especially those of Mukwalibe village, where the separatist kingpin is said to have taken refuge and causing havoc on the population.

Officials said with the killing of the self-styled Amba General, the population in the area will now heave a sigh of relief.

This, they said, is because the Amba fighters had imposed a 6p.m. curfew on vehicles plying the Kumba-Mamfe Road.

Reacting to news of the killing of the Amba commander, the Mayor of Konye Council, Dr Barrister Musima George Lobe, said his population will now be free and can go about their normal duties.

The mayor said schools are also expected to start in all nooks and crannies of the municipality.

The Amba kingpin, it was disclosed, inflicted so much pain on the population around Kombone Bafaw Junction along the Kumba-Mamfe Road.

It was revealed that the neutralised self-proclaimed Amba General masterminded the kidnapped of teachers of Government Bilingual High School Konye, leading to the shutdown of the school.

He is believed to have been among those who kidnapped workers of the Konye Council and chopped off the finger of a councillor. He was also noted for masterminding the burning of several cars and seizing people’s cocoa farms among other atrocities.
