The CPDM political leader of Donga Mantung Division, Shey Jones Yembe, has lauded the robust efforts engaged by the Mayor of Nkambe, Musa Shey Nfor, which he said, has transformed the municipality as the second cleanest nationwide and as a peace sanctuary in the Region.

The political heavyweight poured the praises on the municipal authority in Yaounde Wednesday, October 9.

This was during a courtesy visit the MP for Nkambe, Hon Barrister Ngala Gerard; Mayor Musa Shey Nfor and other Nkambe Council officials, paid on the political leader of Donga Mantung, Shey Jones Yembe.

The visit was to present the trophy and the cheques recently won in Ebolowa, by Nkambe Council in the Clean City Contest.

Nkambe Council, it should be noted, was recently declared second cleanest town in the country. This was during the sixth edition of the Clean City Contest in the town of Ebolowa, in the South Region.

The results were pronounced by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Célestine Ketcha Courtès. Nkambe Council came behind Ebolowa II Council which won the first prize while Mayo Darley Council won the third prize.

This was during celebration marking the 38th edition of World Habitat Day which held under the theme: “Engaging youths to create a better urban future”.

Nkambe Council received a cheque of 60 million FCFA for emerging second and also received an additional cheque of 1.5 million FCFA from waste management company, HYSACAM, for the milestone.

During the brief ceremony in Yaounde, Shey Jones Yembe lauded the robust moves engaged by the Mayor of Nkambe and his collaborators, which have brought national accolades to the municipality.

Shey Jones urged Mayor Musa Shey and his collaborators to not only maintain the feat of cleanest town but to work towards ensuring the town becomes the most beautiful city in the country.

Speaking earlier, Mayor Musa Shey Nfor and Hon Barrister Ngala Gerard thanked their father, Minister Shey Jones, for the guidance in the grassroots activities.

They praised the political leader for inculcating in them the values of hard work, peace and development.

Such values, they stated, have helped them to engaged unifying grassroots activities that have transformed Nkambe and made it an undisputed household name in the country and beyond.

Mayor Musa Shey Nfor and Hon Barrister Ngala Gerard used the emotion-filled moments of the solemn ceremony to pledge before their political leader to continue doing their utmost for the municipality by always prioritising the needs of the population.

Mayor Musa Shey Nfor had told The Guardian Post that the award was the fruits of the peace reigning in the municipality and collective efforts from inhabitants.

He dedicated the award to the peace-loving population for federating forces behind the council for the realisation of the achievement.

The municipal authority said cleanliness in Nkambe is not to fetch awards but a way of life. This, he said, is reason the council has plans to make the town the most beautiful in the country.

Nkambe emerging second cleanest town in the country, it should be said, was not a surprise. The council had in 2022 emerged first in the North West Region and the 10th nationwide.

It retained the top position in the North West Region in 2023 and was also ranked on the 6th position nationwide.
