College of priests & Archbishop during mass

Christians of the Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Parish Nkol-Nguie, Damas, in Yaounde, have celebrated the 20th anniversary of the worship house.

The 20th anniversary celebration took place Sunday October 6.

This was during a holy mass celebrated by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Yaounde, His Grace Jean Mbarga.

In his homily, His Grace Jean Mbarga preached on living together. The prelate also gave a brief history about the life of St Therese before inviting worshippers to follow her footsteps.

Archbishop Jean Mbarga pleaded with St Therese to help those who are still single, to look for a partner and to those who are married, to avoid adultery.

He called on St Therese to distribute her divine grace upon worshippers who took part in the special occasion. The entire Christian family was invited to be members of and followers of St Therese.

Archbishop Jean Mbarga stated that the church is made up of three categories including source of wisdom of life, salvation and benedictions. The Man of God insisted that: “We can't celebrate a Parish anniversary while putting God aside”.

He called on the congregation to live together, to be united and to integrate the social problems of the country in the church so as to look for solutions to the said problems.

The Christians were equally challenged to pray for the intercession of St Therese.

"The church is supposed to have interest in social problems such unemployment of youth and thanks to the commercial activities that are here, I call on all the youth and the church to look at this phenomenon so as make sure there is employment for the youth," said His Grace Jean Mbarga.

He has called the church to be involved in such societal problems as well as open its doors to the youth who have ideas and initiatives to projects which can be of help to the country.
