Sanaga Maritime: Transport minister donates 15M FCFA for rehabilitation of bridges in Massock-Songloulou.

Transport minister handing cash support to SDO

The Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe, has donated the sum of 15 million FCFA for the temporal rehabilitation of some bridges in Massock-Songloulou Subdivision in Sanaga Maritime Division of the Littoral Region.
The money was donated in cash during his visit over the weekend to some affected villages in the Subdivision.

Some 13 bridges in Massock-Songloulou Subdivision were destroyed by floods following heavy rains on September 16 and 17, rendering movement of goods and persons impossible.

During his visit to Log Pagal village, one of the affected villages in the area, the Minister handed over the cash gift for the population.

The sum was handed over to the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Sanaga Maritime, Yvan Cyril Abondo. This was in the presence of the President of the Littoral Regional Council, Hon Polycarpe Banlog; the Mayor of Massock-Songloulou, Dr. Robert Batoum Batoum; and Member of Parliament of the area, Hon Rosette Ayayi, as well as the Chief of Babimbi II Canton.

In his address, the transport minister assured the population that as an elite of the Division, he is concerned with their suffering.

According to Ngalle Bibehe, he is not just an elite of Sanaga-Maritime Division, but also has lineage in the Subdivision as his grandmother came from the Babimbi II Canton, specifically Ndog Mbong village.

He reassured them that the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, is very concerned with the ordeal they are going through. Ngalle Bibehe then announced that President Biya has ordered the reconstruction of the bridges and is closely monitoring the reconstruction work which are set to begin in 2025.

The SDO also thanked the local elite and population, who had each made a significant contribution to rebuilding the bridges on temporary basis.

Meanwhile, officials from the Ministry of Public Works presented a detailed report on the state of progress of the work to rehabilitate the damaged bridges.

It was specified that the current reconstruction works are being carried out on a temporary basis to allow people and small vehicles to move around.

During the ceremony, the Mayor of Massock-Songloulou thanked the President of the Republic for having instructed the rapid rehabilitation of the bridges to enable the people of the affected villages to move around easily.
