West Region: Two alleged footballers arrested for human organs trafficking.

Two suspects standing beside lifeless body of woman

Two young men, who claim to be footballers with two local clubs, have been arrested after they were found in possession of body parts of a woman, in an advanced state of decomposition.

The duo, 24-year-old Kamogne Tatchim Michel, and 21-year-old Tchop Jerry, were arrested on October 5, 2024.

According to reports from online news portals, the victims were reportedly arrested by gendarmes in Moungo Division, Littoral Region.

Also, reports on another online portal, N’zui Manto, revealed that Kamogne and Tchop were arrested along the Bafoussam-Douala Road. The gendarmes, the report hold, intercepted a vehicle in which the suspects were on board when they were trying to cross a checkpoint.

According to the report, it was during the search that the forces of law and order made the gruesome discovery. The body had been cut into several pieces and wrapped in a bag. The lady has not been immediately identified.

It is also unclear where the two individuals were taking the lifeless body of the woman to and what purpose it was intended for. However, rumours have it that the suspects wanted to sell some parts of her body.

During the investigations, Kamogne and Tchop are reported to have said they were players on the books of legendary West Region club, Racing of Bafoussam, and National Sport Academy of Bafoussam respectively.

Despite their claims, officials of these clubs have denied any affiliation with the suspects. An official from the West Regional League of the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, is quoted to have told Douala-based private television channel, Equinoxe TV, that the suspect was not a player of Racing Club of Bafoussam.

Also, the manager of National Sport Academy, whose name we got as Fodop Fopoussi, admitted that one of those arrested, Tchop, had formerly played for the team. The official however insisted that he left the club two years ago.
