At confab of Central African Aviation Safety Supervisory Agency: CCAA seals deal to develop community teaching kits, organise training sessions.

It was signed in Douala Friday September 4 by Directors General of CCAA and ASSA-AC, Paule Avomo Assoumou épouse Koki, and Eugène Apombi, respectively.

The partnership deal was the highpoint of the sixth ordinary session of the Committee of Ministers of ASSA-AC.

The session was chaired by the current Chairman of the Committee, who doubles as Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Central African Republic, Herbert Gontran Djono Ahaba. 

Cameroon’s Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna Ngallè Bibéhè; Gabon’s Minister of Transport, Merchant Shipping and the Sea, Loic Moudouma Ndinga; Republic of Congo’s Minister of Transport, Civil Aviation and Merchant Shipping, Honoré Sayi, as well as the representatives of Equatorial Guinea’s Minister of Civil Aviation and of Chad’s Minister of Transport, Civil Aviation and National Meteorology, all graced the session. 

The ordinary session brough together members of the ASSA-AC Management Committee and a host of officials from the civil aviation sector in Central Africa.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Committee expressed gratitude to the President of Cameroon, Paul Biya, for his interest and assiduous efforts to make sub-regional integration a reality. 

He also paid tribute to the President of the Central African Republic, Faustin Archange Touadera, for his tireless foresight in resolving crises in the sub-region. 

The members of the committee then deliberated on the activity reports presented by the Management Committee; Community regulations; the International Civil Aviation Organisation, and ICAO's Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme, USOAP audit. 

Meanwhile, ASSA-AC's budget, financing mechanism and the 2023-2024 roadmap was deliberated and agreed upon. 

The deliberations at the Douala meeting reportedly unfolded in a spirit of solidarity, collegiality, equality, transparency and justice, which are values of the five founding pillars of CEMAC. 

At the end of the meeting, the member countries reaffirmed their vision of making CEMAC an integrated and emerging economic area by 2025, where safety, solidarity and good governance reign, at the service of human development. 

Motions of support were equally addressed to the Heads of State of the six member countries of ASSA-AC, notably Cameroon, Congo, Central African Republic, Chad, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. 

It is worth noting that ASSA-AC is a specialised institution of the Central African Economic Union.

The ordinary session was also attended by representatives of the Governor of the Littoral region, Douala City Mayor, the Commissioner in charge of the Department of Infrastructure and Sustainable Development of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community, CEMAC.
