Some women have been schooled on better ways of writing and mastering business plans in order to boost their chances of succeeding in business.

The women, some of whom are entrepreneurs, were drilled during a webinar organized by the Cameroon Economic Policy Institute, CEPI, of Henri Kouam Foundation.

The business training was part of a project called the Let’s Work Initiative, funded by the American-based organization, Atlas Network.

The event bought together over 46 entrepreneurs and members of civil society from across five African countries.

The training handled by business trainer and founding president of Build and Develop the Society, BDS Group, Cedric Motchebong, was geared towards empowering the participants on elements of a good business plan, resources management and ensuring its implementation as a blue print for success.

The training also delved on drafting company description, market analysis, competitive analysis, management and organization, products and services, marketing plan, sales strategy and financial plan.

In his presentation, the serial entrepreneur stressed that a business plan should include projections for revenue, expenses, and profitability.

He also mentioned that it should also cover funding requirements and how the funds will be used, providing a clear financial roadmap for the business.

Motchebong equally told the participants to consider a detailed description of their products or services offered by including information about the development process, lifecycle, and how the goods or services meet customers’ needs.

While addressing participants, CEPI Founder and Executive Director, Henri Kouam, noted that CEPI’s monthly business trainings are designed to provide a platform for entrepreneurs to engage on issues that can benefit and improve their businesses.

He also expressed CEPI’s commitment to supporting the entrepreneurs, business operators in improving their practices in order to experience growth.

“We are committed to impartiality, openness, and excellence,” Kouam said, adding that “through publications, programmes, advocacy events, podcasts, and other activities, CEPI is carving out a unique discussion space for everyone interested in open trade, free markets, property rights, and limited but targeted government regulation”.

Through a dual focus on analysis and impact, and dynamic relationships with policymakers at every level of government, CEPI is establishing itself as a vibrant laboratory for economic policies.

CEPI’s researches are built around key areas like monetary and fiscal policy, business and technology policy, agriculture and trade policy as well as education policy.
