West Region: Niat Foundation offers support to 25 schools in Bangangte.

This was during a visit to some of the schools as well as a ceremony organised at the Bangangte Council on Thursday, September 19. The donation was coordinated by the Executive Secretary of the Niat Foundation, Eric Aime Niat who doubles as Mayor of Bangangte Council. 

This was in the presence of the Divisional Officer, DO, of Bangangte, representative of the Divisional Delegate of Basic Education among other officials.

Mayor Eric Niat accompanied by the DO of Bangangte, André Christian Olomo, undertook a visit to some four schools in the Subdivision.

During the visits to Les Champions Primary School in Banekouane, GS Nyamga in Bangoulap, GS Kafeng and GS Bantoum III, Eric Niat handed the support destined to these institutions and also listened to the challenges they are facing.

At each of the stops, Eric Niat mentioned that one of the main missions of the foundation is to promote access to education for all. 

“We attach a lot of importance to education and we think this is our own little way to contribute in educating Cameroonian youth. We know all the problems our education system encounters; by giving these few things [teaching materials], it will help the teachers so that they can carry on their mission which is to educate our children,” the Executive Secretary of Niat Foundation said.

The gesture by the Niat Foundation isn’t the first, given that the start of each academic year, the Executive Secretary visit schools in the municipality in order to provide them with multifaceted support.

According to the Bangangte mayor, the Niat Foundation understands the challenges faced by teachers as they strive to build the minds of young Cameroonians.

He said the only way the foundation can accompany them is to provide such teaching materials, adding that the initiative is also aimed at supporting the State and the government of the Republic in the training of the youth.

“We know how difficult it is today; we understand government is doing its best but the means are not always enough. So, with this little package that we are bringing, we hope to help the teachers achieve their mission,” Aime Niat detailed. 

Drop in gov’t minimum package 

Speaking during the donation of the teaching materials, the representative of the Inspector of Basic Education of Bangangte, Romaric Foko said the gesture by the Niat Foundation is a big boost to the schools.

He disclosed that donation is coming at a time the yearly minimum package allocated to schools by government has dropped drastically and is even yet to be made available.

According to Foko, the materials made available by the Niat Foundation will lessen the burden of teachers in the selected schools. The school heads who received the support expressed gratitude while tabling other challenges they are facing. 

Mayor Eric Niat was presented a plethora of challenges, ranging from insufficient teaching staff, lack of potable water, insecurity, access roads to some schools.

On his part, the DO for Bangangte praised the generosity of the benefactor Eric Aimé Niat and at the same time invited him to always be attentive to the requests of the population.
