Hamadou Sali: New Chairman of Douala Port Timber Terminal

Renowned politician and logistics expert, Hamadou Sali, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Douala Port Timber Terminal, TBPD, a subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics, AGL.

The information was made public recently by the institution in a communiqué published in the national bilingual daily newspaper, Cameroon Tribune.

Even though his appointment was confirmed during a board meeting held on May 2, 2024, things were only made official by the TBPD in September 2024 in a communiqué.

Hamadou Sali officially takes over from the late Aoudou Dandjouma, who passed away on September 20, 2023.

As per the communique, he will serve a two-year term “until the annual general meeting in 2026 that will review the financial statements for the year ending December 31, 2025”.

His appointment comes at a pivotal time for the institution, which has been facing operational challenges in recent years.

As the new Chairman, he is expected to work hard to revive the company's business, a role that demands both his extensive experience in the logistics sector and his ability to navigate complex business environments.

Sali, it should be said, is not new to the world of logistics. He has been CEO of AGL Cameroun, the main body of the TBPD, and his leadership roles extend across various influential positions in the sector.

Previously, he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Douala International Terminal, DIT, he has equally been former concessionaire of the Port of Douala container terminal, and also held the position of Chairman of Cameroon’s national railway company, Camrail, from 2009 to 2017.

According to sources, his appointment at the helm of the TBPD underscores his longstanding expertise in managing large-scale logistics operations, particularly in Cameroon’s transport infrastructure.

He is expected to work closely with the Managing Director of TBPD to develop and execute strategies aimed at revitalising the terminal’s business operations, which are critical for the country’s timber export sector.

Hamadou Sali was born on January 25, 1965, in Bogo, Diamare Division in the Far North Region. He is also a member of the National Assembly, representing the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM.
