Mayor Tabenchong Ashu recognised for visionary, people-friendly leadership.

It is from the Walcatz Development Association, WACODA.WACODA is an association of young Cameroonians with objective of recognizing stakeholders and actors working in line with community development.

The award was handed to the grassroots politician on the sidelines of the finals of the Manyu Unity Football Tournament which the mayor organises annually to preach peace, campaign for effective schooling within the municipality and across the division. 

WACODA members said the recognition is for Mayor Tabenchong Ashu’s “exceptional contributions to community development, nation-building and youth empowerment”.

They added that Mayor Tabenchong Ashu’s “visionary leadership and tireless efforts have significantly impacted countless lives, inspiring and empowering the next generation”. 

WACODA members further stated that the mayor’s “dedication to fostering growth and positive change has left an indelible mark on the community”. 

They praised the Mayor of Mamfe municipality for been able to re-organise the bike riders, barbers and carpentry sectors which most of the youths are involved.

Bamessing community adopt Mayor Tabenchong Ashu 

Still on the sidelines of the same football final, the Bamessing community in Mamfe recognised Mayor Tabenchong Ashu as their son. 

The Bamessing community from Ngoketunjia Division of the North West Region resident in Mamfe, dressed Mayor Robertson Tabenchong Ashu, in their traditional regalia.

They said he is exceptional in promoting peaceful co-existence and living together in his municipality and beyond. 

While showering traditional blessings on the mayor, they called on God Almighty to grant him long life and continued wisdom not to derail from his good works.

Revisiting Mayor Tabenchong Ashu

Mayor Robertson Tabenchong Ashu, it should be said, has remained one of the most courageous municipal authorities in the crisis-hit North West and South West regions who has stayed back within their municipalities to continue carrying out development projects.

The mayor has since his election, carried out road rehabilitation works, road pavement as well as opened new roads to ease circulation within the municipality.

He has constructed culverts and bridges to link different neighbourhoods in the municipality, implanted solar lights along major streets to curb insecurity. 

He has also provided holiday jobs to youth in the area to help them prepare for the next school year. 

In a bid to keep youth within the municipality busy during the holiday period, the mayor has been organising football tournaments.

He has been using the football tourney dubbed “Manyu Unity Cup”, foster peace, unity, social cohesion, living together and patriotism in Manyu Division of the South West Region. 

The mayor has repeatedly been commended by the administration of Manyu Division for his development efforts and efforts to promote peace in the municipality. 

The administrators have also hailed him for always mobilising thousands to celebrate the national events in the administrative unit.
