University of Bamenda warns public against person impersonating Vice Chancellor.

The University of Bamenda, UBa, has called on the general public to be cautious of a scrupulous individuals impersonating the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Theresia Nkuo-Akenji. 



The Vice Chancellor issued a statement dated September 3 to disclaim a Facebook page some person(s) have been using to impersonate her. Prof Nkuo-Akenji warned the public to avoid getting scam by such persons.

In the statement, Prof Nkuo-Akenji disclosed that the impersonation is taking place on Facebook, on which she does not have any account. 

“Our attention has been drawn to the fact that certain unscrupulous individuals are taking advantage of the social media in general and Facebook in particular to impersonate the Vice Chancellor of the University of Bamenda in an attempt to dupe members of the public,” she said.

Reiterating the fact that the Vice Chancellor has never had a Facebook account, the communique went further to call on the general public to be vigilant and watch out for impersonators.

“We hereby call on the general public not to engage in any social media discussion with anyone purporting to be the Vice Chancellor of the University of Bamenda or acting on her behalf,” she added. 

It should be recalled that the disclaimer comes barely few weeks after the police arrested a man suspected to be impersonating the Minister of Finance, Louis Paul Motaze, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu, and other high-profile state personalities.
