After weeks in hospital: Comedian, Mami Ton, succumbs to cold hands of death.

Renowned Cameroonian actress and comedian, Kentsop Orgelle known, popularly as Mami Ton, has died, aged 54.

The renowned female comedian succumbed to the cold hands of death after battling for survival at a Douala hospital.



We gathered that she died on the night of Wednesday September 4. Mami Ton was hospitalised for almost a month at the Douala General Hospital. She was rushed to the facility after she suffered a stroke caused by a haemorrhage during a live event.

The information was announced on her official Facebook page which is currently being handled by her daughter, Madage Mirrete. 

Mirrete had taken over her page to regularly inform the deceased’s fans of her condition at the hospital. This was after rumour circulated on social media on the demise of Mami Ton, few days after the stroke attack. 

It should be noted that Mami Ton was attacked by stroke during an event held Saturday August 10. She was rushed to a Douala hospital where emergency medical care was administered.

After spending weeks in the hospital, she gave up the ghost Wednesday. While in hospital, President Paul Biya had ordered that all the medical bills be handled by the state. The development was disclosed by the Director of the Douala General Hospital.

Aside the government aid, individuals of good will had also made contributions for her treatment. Mami Ton was an award-winning comedian. 

She was winner of best actress at canal 2’or twice. The first was in 2011 and the other in 2013. She had also won an honorary prize at the Komane festival in Bafoussam in 2017.
