Donga Mantung SDO hails CAMTEL GM for promoting peace, unity through sports.

Champions, Real Madrid of Ako, celebrating trophy

The Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Donga Mantung Division, Basiliken George Magloire Emmanuel, has commended the General Manager of Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, for using sports to promote the values of peace, unity and social cohesion in the administrative unit.

The administrator heaped the praises on the revered Donga Mantung elite on August 25, 2024.

This was during the finals of the Mafor Yah Judith Sunday epse Achidi's Football Tournament for Peace and Unity.

The annual soccer jamboree, which was in its fourth edition, was played in football pitches across Donga Mantung Division.

From Ako to Ndu, Nkambe to Nwa and Misaje Subdivisions, the tourney rallied what observers say was the highest number of turn out in a competition in the Division.

It rallied football lovers, fan clubs, players and served as a veritable opportunity to detect talents from the participating teams.

Underscoring the importance of peace, love and unity, the SDO said the efforts of the CAMTEL GM to sustain and maintain peace as well as encourage living together is laudable.

Basiliken used the opportunity of the football finals to call on all the living forces of Donga Mantung Division to borrow a leaf from the General Manager of CAMTEL and drum peace efforts in the administrative unit.

The SDO also used the opportunity to convey a message of peace to the population of Donga Mantung Division.

Real Madrid of Ako emerges champion

The football final, which was described as one of the highest crowd pullers of the year, was watched by over 10,000 inhabitants of the Division.

Despite the heavy downpour in Nkambe, thousands showed up at the Nkambe Municipal Stadium to support Yah Judith Sunday epse Achidi's efforts in promoting peace and unity in Donga Mantung Division.

Animations through drumbeats and trumpets sounds from dance groups echoed into highlands of Binshua and the lowlands of Tabenken, announcing the kick off of the finals at the Nkambe Municipal Stadium.

The high point of the atmosphere was the arrival of the Donga Mantung SDO to give the kick off of the finals at 2p.m; between Real Madrid of Ako and Bocar Junior of Nwa.

Barely 15 minutes into the first half, Kalla of Real Madrid of Ako hammered a 20-metre missile to score the first goal. Real Madrid of Ako consolidated their lead at the 38th minute when Kanna scored the second goal.

Both teams tussled until the center referee, Allen Bocsic, sent both to the resting room with Real Madrid of Ako leading Bocar Junior of Nwa by 2-0 at first half.

Upon resumption for the second segment of the game, Bocar Junior made three good misses that would have put them on the lead.

However, the attackers were stopped by the goalkeeper of Real Madrid of Ako.

At the final blast of Alen Bocsic, Real of Ako emerged winners of the Mafor Yah Judith Sunday epse Achidi's Football Tournament for Peace and Unity in Donga Mantung Division.

Handsome prizes to deserving players

Some talented players who distinguished themselves during the entire tournament were awarded handsome prizes.

Kana from Real Madrid of Ako won the best player award of the tournament, Elvis of Early Bird International was crowned highest goal scorer with nine goals while the goalkeeper of Real Madrid Ako took home the prize of best goalkeeper.

It is worth mentioning that throughout the tournament, only one yellow card was given the back keeper of Bocar Junior. It should be noted that over 50 teams participated in the tournament for peace and unity.

The idea of the General Manager of CAMTEL to organise football tourneys is to strengthen the virtues of peace, national unity, living together and social cohesion among citizens resident in Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region. The tournament has gathered momentum over the years.
