New SW SOPECAM boss tasked to strengthen coverage of region, increase subscribers.

The new South West Regional Chief of Agency of the Cameroon News and Publishing Corporation, SOPECAM, Mbonteh Roland Mejame, has been tasked to strengthen the region’s news coverage and increase the number of subscribers to publications of the corporation. 



The instructions were dished out by Editorialist at Cameroon Tribune, Grégoire Djarmaila. He was speaking in Buea August 23, 2024. 

This was while installing Mbonteh Roland Mejame on behalf of the General Manager of SOPECAM, Marie-Claire Nnana.  

Mbonteh Roland Mejame was appointed by SOPECAM General Manager through a service note on August 14, 2024. 

He replaces Nkeze Mbonwoh Gabriel who has gone on retirement after 39 years of service at SOPECAM. 

 

Strengthen region’s coverage, increase subscribers 

Speaking during installation at the conference hall of South West Regional Delegation for Communication, the envoy of the SOPECAM GM said Mbonteh Roland now represents corporation in all segments in the region. 

Djarmaila reminded Mbonteh that as Regional Chief of Agency, he is head of the administration, first commercial manager and first regional correspondent for all publications of SOPECAM. 

The representative of SOPECAM boss urged the new Regional Chief of Agency to do his utmost in strengthening the news coverage in the region. 

He also tasked Mbonteh to flood the pages of SOPECAM products viz; Cameroon Tribune, Cameroon Business Today, Cameroon Insider newspapers as well as Nyanga and Weekend Sports et Loisirs Magazines with news from South West Region. 

Aside strengthening the news coverage in the region, Djarmaila also instructed Mbonteh to explore fresh avenues to increase the number of subscribers to SOPECAM products.

 

Outgone Regional Chief hailed 

The representative of SOPECAM boss expressed gratitude to the outgone Regional Chief of Agency, Nkeze Mbonwoh, for his unalloyed services to the corporation since he was recruited in 1985.

He also hailed Nkeze for demonstrating matchless professionalism and tact in handling issues of the corporation while serving in Bamenda in the North West, Douala in the Littoral and later Buea in the South West Region. 

As Regional Chief of Agency, Djarmaila said the Nkeze ensured the significant and permanent presence of SOPECAM publications in the South West Region. 

He also hailed his steady contribution to Chroniques column, analyses that were published on Mondays and Thursdays in Cameroon Tribune.

Snippet about new SW Chief of Agency 

Mbonteh Roland Mejame was born on October 16, 1984. The versatile journalist with over 15 years of experience holds a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Buea, UB.

Before joining Cameroon Tribune in 2012, Mbonteh worked for Limbe-based private print media organ, Eden newspaper, in Buea.

He also served as staff of elections management body, Elections Cameroon, ELECAM, in Ndian Division. Mbonteh also had a stint with Douala-based media house, Equinoxe TV. 

Mbonteh served SOPECAM in the South West Region as Commercial Officer and journalist until 2015.

His journalistic prowess got management to redeploy him to the Political Desk of Cameroon Tribune at the central newsroom in Yaounde.

He served as a political reporter in Yaounde until 2017, when he was again sent to among others to kick start SOPECAM's new publication, Cameroon Business Today. 

At Cameroon Business Today, Mbonteh served as Head of the Investigation Pool, till August 14, 2024, when he was promoted and appointed South West Regional Chief of Agency of SOPECAM.  Mbonteh is married and father of many.
