Farmers Village CEO rewarded for unrivaled service to humanity, poverty alleviation.

Dabo Magellan, wife, & CEO of Grass to Grace G2G NGO with Chief Nofuruh Ivens Disombe

Kumba-based entrepreneur and founder of uprising company, Farmers Village, Dabo Magellan, has been recognised for his selfless development service to the community and for recruiting and empowering young Cameroonians to fight unemployment. 



The CEO of Farmers Village was conferred the humanitarian award August 21, 2024. 

The recognition is from Douala-based non-governmental organisation, Grass to Grace, G2G, affiliated to the United Nations CISRI Mission, a permanent observatory organ of the United Nations, UN.

It was handed to the CEO of Farmers Village in the presence of family members, friends and relatives, by Chief Thomas Ayuk Fotang, third class traditional ruler and Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations CISRI Cameroon, and founder of Grass to Grace.

Farmers Village, it should be noted, is located in Barombi native in Kumba III Subdivision, Meme Division of the South West Region.

Speaking at the brief ceremony, the initiator of the award, Chief Thomas Ayuk Fotang, said the choice of Dabo Magellan for the distinction is not by chance.

He said the laureate has distinguished himself in the domain of entrepreneurship by setting up an agro-industrial company that has given jobs to hundreds of young people with branches scattered all over the South West Region and satellite offices in neighbouring Nigeria. 

He said the humble Kumba-based businessman has also paid tuition fees for so many orphans around his neighbourhood as well as reached out to widows as his own little way to give back to his community.

“Mr Dabo Magellan is a personality who has refused to ask what his nation has done for him but what he can do to improve the socio-economic development of the national…," Thomas Fotang stated. 

The aforementioned qualities, he added, are amongst other things, made the recipient to stand out among others to grab the international humanitarian award. 

The CEO of Grass to Grace G2G NGO also called on the enthusiastic population to celebrate their own when they are alive rather than speaking well about then when they are dead. 

He congratulated the recipient and encouraged him to keep doing good because he is being watched from afar by other institutions.

Speaking after receiving the award in the presence of his wife and other love ones, Dabo Magellan said when he was first contacted, he thought it was a scam until this day that he is receiving the award.

Dabo said he feels elated to have been chosen for the award which he is dedicating to God Almighty, his family, and workers who have carefully lived his dream of making the Farmers Village a reality. 

He also thanked award organizer, noting that the recognition will undoubtedly serve as a motivation for him to continue working tirelessly to impact the lives of young people by enhancing their capacity. 

Dabo thanked God for strength which permitted him to work hard, adding that what he started like a mustard seed has grown and is been recognised. 

 

About the laureate 

Dabo Magellan is a native of the West Region of Cameroon born and breathe in Kumba. 

After his primary education, he quickly went to trade in Cocoa chemicals and farming tools. He created the Farmers Village, an agro-industrial company with headquarters in Kumba. 

The company has branches spread across the South West Region and satellite offices in Nigeria. Dabo Magellan is married and a father of many children.
