The pilots of the country’s national carrier, Cameroon Airlines Corporation, Camair-Co, have reassured the general public that its aircrafts will continue to hit the skies, despite a strike notice issued by the Cameroon Civil Aviation Pilots' and Flight Engineers' Union, SPINAC.

The reassurance was given in a statement issued recently. In the statement, the workers reassured customers that flights will continue to operate smoothly and even better providing its customers with the best safety and comfortable measures.

In the statement released by the pilots, they reassured the public stating that: "Camair-Co reassures its valued customers that, following the strike notice filed by one of the pilots' unions, a constructive dialogue has been initiated under the supervision of the competent authorities and the supervisory board. The airline's flight schedule is continuing normally under the usual optimum safety conditions".

In its note, the airline also thanked its loyal passengers for their constant support "since the start of the restructuring process which begun in 2021, we have resulted in a constant improvement in the quality of our services, as we have been able to see on our recent journeys".

The assurance comes few days after the Cameroon Civil Aviation Pilots' and Flight Engineers' Union, SPINAC issued a letter which was addressed to Labour and Social Security Delegate for the Littoral with the subject: "Camair-co pilots' strike notice".

The strike notice, signed on August 5, 2024, had cited that the pilots are demanding increase in salary and irregular salary pay since 2021.

It also condemned the discrimination between military pilots and Camair-Co pilots, which they say are better treated and have more more significant responsibilities giving them more advantages.

This came after the company had recently announced the entry into service of a new aircraft and the upcoming return of its second Boeing whose maintenance work is near completion.
